What are some amazing places? Shrines, churches, anything Catholic-related.

St. Anthony’s Chapel here in Pittsburgh- the largest collection of relics in the world.

Just down the mountain from St. Anthony’s- the Maxo Vanka murals in St. Nicholas Church in Millville- documenting the life of Croat Catholic immigrants coming to America.

I think there is a chapel or something to Our Lady of Good Health in Wisconsin.

The Shrine of the Blessed Mother , also hear in Pittsburgh. I first saw this 25 years ago, when I was driving Yellow Cab and had a young lady who got a ride to the bottom of Wakefield St.

Few people in Pittsburgh know about it, its at the bottom of an impossibly steep cobblestone dead end road, and perched above a busy interstate highway.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC

National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC

Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Lewiston, NY - giant Mary statue, giant rosary, and dozens of life-size saint statues all over the grounds.

Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics in Maria Stein, Ohio

There is a 90-foot-tall Mary statue, “Our Lady of the Rockies”, overlooking Butte, Montana. There are also several 30-foot-tall Mary statues located in Santa Clara, California; Windsor, Ohio; Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; St. John, Indiana; and New Castle, Delaware.

  • Franciscan Monastery - DC
  • Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - DC
  • St. Anthony’s Chapel - Pittsburgh
  • National Shrine of St. John Paul II - DC
  • National Shrine of St. John Neumann - Philadelphia (his actually body is visable under the lower altar)
  • Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul - Philadelphia (esp after St. Katherine Drexel’s body is relocated to the Cathedral.
  • EWTN - Irondale, AL
  • Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament - Hanceville, AL
  • St Bernard Abbey - near Hanceville, AL
  • St Patrick’s Cathedral - NYC
plus many other places that I will list once I have time.

Apparently we have this amazing grotto in Iowa, like the worlds largest grotto or something. It’s in Westbend, Iowa. I still haven’t checked it out but it’s on my list of places to visit for sure.

Edit: found an article on it!

The Vatican.
The Vatican isn’t a single building.

I acknowledge that Vatican City has more relics than Pittsburgh. But I don’t know that a single building in Vatican City has as many relics as St Anthony’s.

I live in Wisconsin, and we have a couple of different shrines here.

One of them was mentioned here already, but people may not know where it is located. It is outside of Green Bay, WI.

It is the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, located in Champion, Wisconsin:

There is also Holy Hill, located outside of Milwaukee, WI, in the town of Hubertus, Wisconsin.

It is also known as The Basilica of The National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Holy Hill.

The people that know about it here in the area simply refer to it as Holy Hill:

There is also a shrine in the western part of the state near the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

There is another small shrine in the Twin Lakes area of Southeastern Wisconsin:

La Salette Missionaries and Shrine of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin:
