What are your favorite quotes from the Reformers (luther, etc;) or Protestants or anyone else NON-CATHOLIC about Catholicism.

They can also be people like Cardinal Newman, i.e. converts.

I would like a list of quotes that show the necessity of Catholicism, the logic of Catholicism, the history of Catholicism, or why Protestantism has many pitfalls.

I think you understand what I am getting at. Have Fun!!!

I read these in “Beginning Apologetics” book 6:

Luther:
It is an article of faith that Mary is Mother of the Lord and still a virgin… Christ, we believe, came forth from a womb left perfectly intact.
Calvin:
There have been certain folk who have wished to suggest from this passage [Matthew 1:25] that the Virgin Mary had other children than the Son of God and that Joseph had then dwelt with her later; but what folly this is! For the gospel writer did not wish to record what happened afterwards; he simply wished to make clear Joseph’s obedience and to show that Joseph had been well and truly assured that is was God who had sent His angel to Mary. He had therefore never dwelt with her nor had he shared her company… And besides this Our Lord Jesus Christ is called the first-born. This is not because there was a second or a third, but because the gospel writer is paying regard to the precedence. Scripture speaks thus of naming the first-born whether or no there was any question of the second.
Zwingli:
I firmly believe that Mary, according to the words of the gospel, as a pure Virgin brought forth for us the Son of God and in childbirth and after childbirth forever remained a pure, intact Virgin.

Take a look at what you’ve just said (bold and underlining mine):

Have fun? Identify Protestant pitfalls and have fun?

While I don’t think you meant what you said, I don’t think this glorifies the faith; it just adds to the bigotry that shouldn’t exist.

You should be proud of your faith, but not to the point of denigrating another’s.

I hardly feel this is promoting bigotry in any shape or form. I do believe this is a Catholic website and in all fairness and with all due respect, I see no problem in asking for quotes from people that either were not Catholic, converts, reformers, heterodoxal Catholics, orthodox Catholics, etc. that promote and show the necessity of Catholicism and the pitfalls of Protestantism.

Let me play devil’s advocate for a moment then. If someone has a quote AGAINST the Catholic Church, please post as well.

It was the “have fun” and “show pitfalls” in the same setting that bothered me. It IS a Catholic site. I assume that means it is a Christian site, too.

You cann’t be Catholic without being Christian but you can be Christian without being Catholic. So this site is open to all and I am more than happy to have all of you as my friends. I just am interested in what quotes are out there that show what I am asking. I don’t mean anything against the people of Protestantism, jus the instituiton itself I question. Sorry if I offended.
