Favorite Sacramentals?

I have a St. Clare chaplet that I carry in my pocket. My best friend is a Poor Clare nun and this little chaplet with 9 beads and a crucifix on the end fits neatly into my pocket. When the going gets crazy, I can reach into my pocket and hang onto the crucifix.

My favorite two sacramental are the two that the Blessed Virgin used to lead me to the True Church of Christ: the Rosary and the Brown Scapular.

*Mine are not *real *sacramentals yet because they’re not blessed, that’s okay, though, I’m not a real Catholic yet.

You can have them blessed even if you are not a member of the Church yet. Take them to any Catholic Church and ask the priest to bless them. He will be very happy to do it! And he’ll also be happy to know that you are interested in becoming a Catholic. He might be able to help you if there is some difficulty keeping you from taking instructions.

Thanx O.C. I will be starting RCIA on Oct. 1, I just haven’t asked my Pastor to bless them yet because I think I want to enroll in the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception, which is the Blue Scapular.

Our pastor blessed pieces of chalk to hand out to write this house blessing over the doorways. Is it a Polish custom? BTW I don’'t know what Fr. meant but Gaspar is another form of Casper.

My favorite is the Miraculous Medal and the prayer.

'Taint just a Polish custom. Our Croatian priest - a dear family friend - probably did the same. Being as he was frequently over at our house, in our case he’d do the writing himself rather than just giving us the chalk, if memory serves.

In terms of favourite sacramentals … second the Miraculous Medal, and the Rosary. In my case also my Profession Cross (I’m a secular Franciscan) and my Morning and Evening Prayer book, both of which were only recently blessed.

I know Catholics do not adore Mary or any Saints. Adoration is reserved for God alone.

My favorite way to communicate with the Lord is through His precious Word. In John 1:1 it says, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the WORD was GOD. In John 1:14 it says, and the WORD became flesh (JESUS) and dwelt among us. How much closer can we get to know Jesus other than through HIS WORD?
In Ephesians 1:7 it says, in Him we have redemptiion by His Blood, the forgiveness of transgressiosn, in accord with the riches of His Grace. To me He is all we need. These Scripture are taken from the Saint Joseph’s New American Bible.
