I was privileged to attend the Divine Liturgy of St. James on this feast day today. How wonderful it is. What a precious gift this Apostle has given the Church.

Christ is Born!
Glorify Him!

Did you receive the Body and Blood separately (as the rubrics strictly call for) or from the spoon?

It’s a beautiful liturgy. In my opinion, it would be a good one for missions without experienced cantors, as the only changeaable parts are the readings.

Also, in my opinion, there’s no reason why it can’t be celebrated more frequently.

This Liturgy of Iakov, Brother of Lord has only been in Church Slavonic translation in Russian Church Abroad but has now been celebrated in Russia and Ukraina. It has been celebrated in L’viv since 1993 in canonical Orthodox church. Below is image of Communication separately of Body and Blood of Our Lord without Lzhitsa.

Where did you, friend Ignatius, attend this Liturgy? Presumably in Russian Orthodox or Romanian Orthodox Church.

St. Metropolit Peter Mohila was only canonized by Ukrainian Church in 1996, somewhat later by Romanian and Russian Church. You say on such December 30, but I think on December 31 (Old Style) since Jan 13 (New Style) feast of St. Iakov, Brother of Lord, Prophet David King and Pslamsinger and St. Peter Mohila Metropolit Kyivsk’ij.

Was this in Church in America?

Yes, I found it quite strange to receive the Body and Blood separately, but that is how it was done!

It was in the Melkite Catholic Church.
