Feel under attack

The past two months I’ve been constantly sick, a side-effect of the medication I’ve been prescribed for depression. Yet the medicine has helped me greatly emotionally. I’ve been feeling so unmotivated though, as well as distracted, and my family says my medicine is the cause. I’m also a senior in high school, and I’m ready to move on with my life, but everytime one stress is removed, another comes along. I’ve had more problems with teachers and administrators within the past few months than I’ve had in four years of hs, all of which have come unexpectedly. I’ve been so distracted and forgetful. I had an issue with a teacher and my principal today, and I hadn’t intentionally done anything wrong. This morning I was just so sick and so stressed out by everything that I broke down in my band/choir director’s office during band. Thankfully she was very understanding and even prayed with me. I called my dad from her office because I knew I would say things I’d regret if I went into the school office. The principal at my hs is known for being a bully, and although he doesn’t intimidate me, I find him infuriating, as well as the teacher that confronted me today. I just prayed that God would help me to forgive them. My dad came and got me from school, but I don’t think my parents really understand what I’m going through right now. I feel like I’m under spiritual attack, although I don’t want to melodramatize anything. Please pray for me.
 
You are in my prayers. I think that you should consider speaking with your physician about the medication you are taking. There may be an alternative that will work better for you. Some counseling might also be in order.

You are obviously going through a difficult struggle. There are probably no easy answers. One thing that I would say to you is this. Do not let your suffering be wasted. As difficult as it may be, you need to unite your suffering with the suffering of our Lord Jesus. This does not mean that you delay or abandon getting help. You need to do that ASAP.

May the Lord bless you, keep you, and shed His love and mercy upon you. May you have strength to endure, and the necessary trust to accept the help that is given to you. I pray that you will feel better soon and that you will regain your focus and concentration. Amen.

I will be praying for you. You are probably right that your parents don’t understand how you feel. My son has bi-polar disorder and I don’t understand what he is going through. I wish I did, as I am sure your parents do also. But just keep repeating over and over that if God is for you, who can be against you. Our Lord is with you every second of every day. He will never leave you. Let him guide you to the help you need. You also need to tell your doctor everything you are feeling, be honest, so that he can help you.

Hi BennyBoy89 ~ I’m just curious - how long ago were you diagnosed with depression? Were you diagnosed by a physician or a psychiatrist? I hope that you are seeing a psychiatrist or a counselor to deal with the depression and the issues with the medication. If you would like to PM me, please feel free to. I will pray for you. But you need to see your doctor and express how you are feeling. Many times, medications for depression need to be adjusted.

Thank-you everyone for your prayers. For those of you who asked, I do see a psychiatrist, who has reccomended counseling for me. I’ve spoken with my parents, who both feel that I should get counseling from a Christian, even a priest if I so wanted. If anything good is coming from this, it’s that my family is beginning to see how important my new-found Catholic faith is to me.
