Maybe I’m just weird 😉 , but does anyone ever feel this way?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always felt kind of nervous/anxious on Holy Saturday. Actually it starts on Good Friday afternoon and lasts all day on Saturday. It’s almost like a pit in my stomach. It definitely goes away on Easter morning. 🙂

I dunno, like I said, maybe it’s just me, but I’m wondering if maybe anyone else gets like this…?

Edited to add:
Mods: I don’t know if this is the right section, so if it’s not please move. Thanks!

well am anxious because of the responsibility for the catechumens at the retreat and vigil, but yes, I think I know what you mean. since childhood, when we were expected to maintain 3 hrs silence on the afternoon of Good Friday, and to fast and abstain Thursday thru Saturday, Holy Week has been rather intense, and not exactly emotional, but, yes intense. I still prefer to be alone and quiet as much as possible. today I could not do that, so wasted some time here because the house is so noisy. hope I can stay for adoration tonight, but probably will have to come home early with MIL and listen as she watches TV all evening. I have always preferred to spend Good Friday alone and in silence, in a church or monastery when possible (which is more often than you would think).

I have a really hard time with the service on Good Friday, I love the Lord’s Supper and the Vigil, but GF is definitely high anxiety. but since it will be noisy here all day I might as well be in church. Sat. is covered, will be at the parish from 8 am to midnight, and too busy to be anxious.

I think I understand what you are saying. Even the few times I had to work, or didn’t attend Good Friday services, a strange stillness fell over everything at the three o’clock hour. This stillness seems to continue on Holy Saturday also. On Sunday morning there is a special warm glow. Easter is, by far, the best holiday.

As a girl growing up, the local Protestant churches would have a sunrise service at the top of a certain hill that sported a huge, lighted cross. I would attend the early sunrise service, then go with my family to Mass.

The feeling I get is closer to emptiness, I think. It usually starts on Holy Thursday and intensifies on Good Friday. I feel kind of hollow, until Easter morning. I’ve always kind of figured that it’s my souls response to the Sacred “drama” (for lack of a better word)… which unfolds on these days. A feeling of both sadness and anticipation. It is hard to explain. But I think I can at least relate to what you’re feeling. God bless.

Thanks everyone for your responses so far. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who feels this way. 🙂

I wish I didn’t have to work tomorrow, but at least I’ll be able to go to the GF service tomorrow night. I want to try and say the Stations during my breaks tomorrow at work.

“hollow” almost precisely describes the feeling, grinding hunger pangs in the soul

had to leave adoration because of a severe coughing fit, just checking in here for prayer requests and good night to all, plan to take off for the weekend, please pray for our catechumens.

Anxiety- yes- I’m not sure why, though. I get afraid that something will get in the way of my getting to mass on time, messing up my fasts, not being open to the Holy Spirt, and allowing him to change me, etc…

Praying for your health, puzzleannie, and for all of the chatechumens. The person I’m sponsoring in RCIA this year is nervous, too.

I had forgotten all about that 3 hours of silence on Good Friday that we used to practice! Thanks for the memory!
