Wholeheartedly agree with Tis_Bearself. I myself am in a mixed marriage and I have only experienced support for both me and my s.o. never experienced an outright effort for conversion on her part during our convalidation.
With regards to OP’s question, your choice of religion is not dependent on how nice people are. It has to do with logic, history and scripture. I left the Catholic Church when I was young with the sincere goal to find the best fit for the teachings of the Judeo-Christian God. I started with the notion that: If God’s teaching is perfect, then his Church is one with a divinely inspired code of ethics whose doctrines should have been existent across time WITHOUT the need of change. That narrowed the search way to quickly to Judaism, Catholicism and Orthodoxy. My journey continued from that point on… However, as per the purpose of your question, lutheranism was never in the plate of options…
