I wanted to share a quick story that happened today. I was at the gym lamenting to God my sore back and feet and how I hated having to suffer with these typical achs and pains. Then in shambles a man, barely walking but all dressed for gym success. He comes near and begins stretching out with serious moans and groans of pain, I was about to stop my work out to go help when he goes through the whole ritual again. Clearly he was recovering from something. He made eye contact with me and I said, “how’s the recovery coming?” He said “Really great thanks to God. I have been working and working and after five years left that wheel chair and now I can come in here under my own power!” I said how long ago was that, he said “In 2003” YIKES, God knows how to bring the real important things in life, like the health to go to a gym, into focus.

I just wanted to share.

This is so true - there is always someone much worse off then we are. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks for sharing this! We have to be constantly reminded by these situations in order to maintain our thankfulness to God. I’m convinced that Christ delivered us the beatitudes and the commandment to love the poor, hungry and sick for reasons that aren’t always so obvious. God needs neither our money, our time, or our service to the poor. He is infinite and loves them with a depth we can’t understand. I think He asks us to help so that WE can be reminded to be thankful and grateful, and to restore us to true humility. The poor, sick, and needy are already being nurtured by HIm in ways we don’t understand in this life and the next. It is the rest of us that are called to conversion by serving them and being reminded what true love really is.
God Bless you!
