Fellowship During RCIA

Hello,

I am currently enrolled in the RCIA class for my local parish. So far I have enjoyed everything that I have learned. I have noticed as well that RCIA is a great place to fellowship with fellow class members. This evening one of the younger women my age said hello and we talked for a few minutes. I see this as an opportunity to build a friendship with another fellow christian. I however noticed that after the break during the class that I tended to think some about this woman. Nothing in an innapproiate or lustful way. I was happy about a potential new friend. I like the idea of new friend but I want to make sure that while in RCIA that I remember my reason for being there is learning about the catholic faith. Does anyone have any comments about fellowshipping or not becoming too distracted an losing focus on the main goal of the RCIA class.

Relationships of any kind can be good and fruitful. Don’t be afraid. Open up your mind and let God’s plan for you be fulfilled.

One of the things that we try to stress in our RCIA sessions at the parish I attend (I’m on the RCIA Team) is that the folks that you meet there that will journey along with you and any team members that help you along that journey are some of the first community that you’ll build in the Catholic Church. Community is a hugely important part of the Church and your journey as well … it’s always a GREAT idea to make these kinds of friendships!
