Being a female Junior at Seton Hall University, I am constantly bombarded by anti-feminine ideologies. Between liberal professors and administration, it is very hard to embrace the dignity of being a woman. It is often stereotyped here that if a woman doesn’t provide the main income in her household, pushing around her man… then she has given in to being barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen.

After searching for a positive Catholic Female Role model, I came across the renowned Dr. Alice von Hildebrand. I was also able, through Campus Ministry, to get her on Campus to speak on “The Privilege of Being a Woman.” I encourage BOTH men and women in the area to come to this free event tomorrow evening here on our South Orange, New Jersey Campus. . . . . .

Keen,
I am so glad that you took the initiative to schedule Dr. Alice von Hildebrand at your campus.

**My daughters are Juniors at a very liberal college and have complained about the same stuff you have encountered. My daughters will look into the possibility of having **Dr. Alice von Hildebrand speak on their campus!

Thanks for sharing!

What school do your daughters go to?

Dr. Von Hildebrand lives in the tri-state area… and she usually limits her talks to around here.

Apparently somone was telling me to also look into Caroline Graglia. She wrote a terrific book on this topic called Domestic Tranquility.

She’s awesome, I would love to be able to see her in person some day 🙂 Part of the problem with feminism is that it has been hijacked by radical feminists and has lost most of its meaning. Being feminist now is earning its own nasty connotation, with due reason.

It’s my humble opinion that part of the downfall of the family is due to the radical feminism that has taken over the world at large.

Gracie 🙂

No It’s definately difficult. When I was at a conference this past winter, I saw shirts that read “Feminine Genius” to quote the late Pope, His Holiness John Paul II. I wanted to get one online… couldn’t find anything though.

Does anyone know any other good Catholic Female Authors??? Or just good contemporary Catholic female rolemodels?

Please update us on your event!! May you be so blessed for organizing this!! 😃

i go to an art school in the midwest, and am constantly faced with many feminists. now i have no problem with feminists, but sometimes they really make me mad. any women here that wants to marry and have have kids is concidered “old-fashioned” and “weak”. i fear what some of them would say if they found out that i plan on being a stay at home mother once i’m married and God blesses me and my husband with children.

Awesome!

Perhaps you can follow that up by bringing Feminists for Life to your campus to speak.

There is a great organization in Denver – ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) – that is aimed at promoting JPIIs “new feminism”. Individual women get trained to lead small group studies on documents such as Letter to Women, Mulieris Dignitatum (On the Dignity and Vocation of Women) and Humanae Vitae. Leaders from all over the country are being trained!

I think you can get the “Feminine Genius” t-shirts from them too!
Check them out! www.endowonline.com

By the way, does anyone know how to contact Alice Von Hildebrand to see if she’s available to speak? Thanks!

They think motherhood is weak? They should go through labor and childbirth, walk the floor all night with a teething infant, potty train a toddler, all the while keeping the household running. Motherhood is not for wimps.

Anyway, my son, who is a junior in college, has run into what he calls “Feminazis”–girls who chew him out for opening a door for them, or otherwise being a gentleman.
