Hello,
I had a conversation with my brother about the Church’s teaching about contraception and fertility.
My brother understands the church’s teaching on contraception, but says “but the church also allows for fertility treatment. So, you can take a pill to get pregnant, but you can’t take a pill to not get pregnant. If you aren’t fertile isn’t that God telling you that you aren’t supposed to have children? Somehow, this seems inconsistent.”
I didn’t know how to respond, because I didn’t know about the church’s teachings on permitted fertility treatments, (and why they are permitted.) What are the church’s teachings on what is morally licit to increase fertility?
Thank you!
