FATIMA READING & PRAYER

On September 13th, very large crowds began to converge on Fatima from all directions. Around noon, the children arrived. After the customary flash of light, they saw Mary upon the Oak tree. She spoke to Lucia: “Continue to pray the Rosary in order to obtain the end of the war [World War One]. In October, Our Lord will come, as well as Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus, to bless the world. God is pleased with your sacrifices." Lucia then began to put forward the petitions for cures, and was told: “Yes, I will cure some, but not others. In October, I will perform a miracle so that all may believe.” Then Our Lady began to rise as usual, and disappeared.

The apparitions of Our Lady to the children were not their first encounter with Heaven. An angel appeared to them previously, three times, and gave them two prayers, as follows:

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I beg pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee!"

"Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference with which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners."

The above is part of the “September Fatima Family Holy Hour for the Church,” to be done any time in the month of September. For full Holy Hour:

Thank you for posting this. It makes tomorrow a more special.

And perhaps I will continue my Rosary nove na without flubbing or forgetting.

As God was pleased with the children’s sacrifices, part of which WAS the Rosary.

As movie theaters begin to open, I’ll look for the new release of Fatima. I always loved the 1950s Warner Brothers version.

Ave Maria Gratia Plena!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments.

This is a significant statement. I think Jesus did the same. Thanks for this.
Of course, all power comes from God. All miracles from Him. This could be misunderstood.

We cannot judge why some receive miracles and others not. I don’t think we can assume it is a judgement about their holiness. It is simply God’s choice of what is best for the soul ultimately.

I agree. What I had in mind was more the argument from some Protestants that interpret the Bible as everyone who came across Jesus’ path and was sick got cured. I say no, and they get up in arms 😅

Yes and let us remember St. Bernadette who famously said the waters at Lourdes were not for her…she died of TB of the bone.

Did this happen? I’m new to Fatima and haven’t heard about this part.

My husband and I did the Holy Hour mentioned above, tonight and it was a great blessing. We sat in our den with our dog and it was a beautiful time. I wish so much that people would participate. Next month is the last one and I doubt it will be done again next year. Who even knows where we will all be next year? This may be our last chance to secure mercy before the world goes completely off the rails! Please give positive feedback. It is very much needed.

Thank you for the link. I’ve heard and read about the miracle of the sun, but not so much the following visions. I find it interesting that she said the final battle between Christ and Satan would be over marriage and family. This is very relevant.

That can be a fruitful discussion and a testing of the spirits though, I think.

Yes, it is always God’s power achieving the miracles. But HE also does not grant all miracles each time He’s asked (though without a doubt He has the power to).

Examples of “no” … or at least “not now” are St. Paul’s ardent prayer for a physical healing being answered with "… My grace is enough for you … " and Jesus’ own “If it be possible let this cup pass from me …” plea in the garden of Gethsemane.

Has God delegated His miracle working power(s) to people? Yes!

Not ALL people everywhere … but definitely the apostles …
and Mary was with them at the feast of Pentecost
and empowering by the spirit (which matches up with the seeming “miracle” of her knowing the Fatima childrens’ obscure language).

Granting SOME prayers but not others?

That’s in line with Jesus empowering the apostles
to forgive sins (OR RETAIN them) on Easter Sunday Night. His first words to them after imparting the spirit upon them with His breath. 😇

It is not surprising that Mary DID work some requested miracles.

NOR that in some cases she didn’t.

Also … some times GOD does not grant a miracle … then, later, does.

Mary, having the Holy Spirit, His power, and Jesus’ delegation, also has wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, piety, fortitude and fear of the Lord to guide her in HOW and WHEN to use her powers.

That she HAS powers may confound some people … but I’ve met some self annointed MARY experts who seem quite sure she has none … or worse, might be a sly usurper of Jesus’ power … if she DID have some miracle working talent. 😬🤯😱!

Testing the spirits before trusting them, as St. John’s epistle counsels us … need not be a cynical or faithless thing … or even “too skeptical”.

A fair test guided by the Spirit will take in all factors and be neither rashly dismissive nor gullible.

As per our attitude towards Mary (and the Saints) … may it always be MUCH closer to JESUS’ … than Satan’s (who has an enmity with her).

One CAN seek and find the truth about Marian things (as the Church does with discernment and patience) without losing or casting aside her son. And there are great benefits to doing so.

If you’d do a Bible Study on Women of Scripture … for e.x., include the one the Holy Spirit filled person calls “blessed among women” (and closest to Jesus).

In fact, it’s a bit of a happy thing that some groups which avoid any mention of Mary … emphasize teachings where she is the best example of them BEING modelled and lived in scripture.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: praise God! As she, the first Christian, did.

😇

Indeed.

Bernadette probably didn’t lack the faith to be healed. Her statement ( though we DON’T have her tone of voice or emotion, strikes me as resigned and submissive … was she perhaps TOLD that … and not just speculating?

Ah well. A servant is not greater than her master. And it is appointed once for “man” to die.

Bernardette got a different kind of miracle, in her being granted:

… incorruptibility of her body after death, and a

… saintly canonization by the same Church that so determinedly questioned and questioned her before approving the veneration of Lourdes.

She was also named the patron saint of bodily ailments.

YouTube has a few videos showing her incorrupt, perfectly preserved without human arts, body …

… in the state you can view it today in Nevers, France.

Alleluia 🦋 🕊️ 🎶 🌞 !

That never occurred to me. I always felt that it came purely from an interior inspiration.

I believe she is simply referring to herself under those particular titles, that she would appear with those separate messages. The Brown Scapular of Carmel is very important.

You are right.

In SOME sections of scripture it does say " … and he healed them all …"

but in his own hometown it said he could work no miracles because of their lack of faith … and of course St. Paul prayed to be delivered of a physical malady … and Jesus told him … my grace is enough for you.

There’s also the gift of redemptive suffering (carrying our OWN crosses) as we follow Him.

It’s true too that He offers us a lighter yoke and a sweeter burden than the world does … but Jesus desires for us the ULTIMATE healing as life after death in heaven.

To gain the whole world … yet to lose THAT … would not be what’s best.

The Blessed Mother knows how to use her powers to aid her children. Sometimes no, or not yet, are what’s best … even if not the most expedient example of immediate gratification.

The fact that ALL were not healed … and that it was prophesied so by the children, gives further weight to the children’s testimonies.

Mary’s key mission is to save souls as the Lord’s handmaid … following Him in HIS work … and empowered by His commands.

Go and teach the nations was one of His apostolic directives.

One CAN I suppose accuse her, or be suspicious of her possibly being capricious or moody or stingy with her healing powers …
but … in my opinion … those ideas are almost assuredly stupid, untrue and out of character for Mary.

Presuming a best case scenario is much more proper if it IS the real Mary, mother of Jesus, than even considering the worst.

That it was NOT Mary … but an occult deception to … what? … turn people back to prayer and GOD??!

By their fruits you shall know them. 🙏❤️
