And my husband, bless his heart, KNOWS ALL THIS, all my struggles, all my bad thoughts, all my temptations, EVERYTHING and he still wants nothing more than to be married to me. He still feels blessed to be married to me. I wish I was half the wife that he is a husband. I DON’T deserve him, really I don’t. I’m blessed beyond measure, and yet these thoughts and temptations and doubts still overwhelm me and some days literally consume me. Please pray that they go away once and for all. Please pray hard that I see God’s will and hand right in front of me, in my husband that He allowed me to marry. Even if it wasn’t what He wanted from all eternity, He did PERMIT me to marry my husband, He blessed the marriage in the Church, even heightened it to the level of a sacrament!

I think a good shaking from those who offered might be just what I need! :o Along with the major prayers of course! 😃
Convert, I rather think that, if someone as wonderful as your husband clearly loves you, then you must be pretty special, no matter what you think!!!

Lots of prayers for you and your sweet husband coming your way.

:hug3: :blessyou:

See the thing is I don’t WANT to leave, but feel like maybe God wants that somehow. Like I said, these are temptations and I’m trying to find ways to fight them. Yes I do have a LOT going on right now. I’ve been sick with so many things lately. I’m not happy, but it is not because of him. Yes the whole not Catholic thing does make me very sad, but so does not having children, not being able to get out much due to illness, being sick all the time, plus my normal mental illness troubles, etc.

Speaking of mental illness my “main” one is OCD and so I tend to be an obsesser and worrier by nature, which is not helping this at all. :o
What you are describing about thinking that God wants you to leave your husband and find a Catholic man is a typical symptom of OCD. Recognize it as such and it won’t have as much power over you.

You love your husband, he is a wonderful man, you want to be with him. And your OCD creates for you a situation where you feel as though you must do the thing you fear the most: lose your husband.

Convert, since you OCD symptoms are causing you so much distress, have you seen your doctor? He might be able to prescribe something that could help.

You need to remember your husband is a child of God, baptized in the spirit and redeemed by Christ’s blood. And you and him together can attain heaven. There are people who call themselves Catholic and are far from the truth. And there are people who do not call themselves Catholic who are close to the truth. Which one do you really want?

That nagging voice sounds like the seeds of doubt, or suggestion planted by Satan.

Your husband need not be Catholic, the Bible doesn’t forbid the marriage, several encyclicals of Popes don’t forbid it, and neither does the teaching. You are blessed to have a great marriage, he may turn to be Catholic one fine day, you never know.

Congratulations, how Blessed you are. God has great plans for you and your marriage. Satan gets it. This is why he whispers to you.Such empty promises. Go to confession, this will strenghthen you. Satan loves to kick the weak when they are down, he prowls around looking for the vulnerable.
Pray the rosary. Sometimes I find praying it very hard, I have mental health problems too, even if the rosary you say is purfunctory, our Lady can sweeten your prayers and make them Holy. The Rosary is a powerful weapon against Satan.
God Bless you.

You all have been so kind and gentle with me. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words and prayers. :hug3: It would be easy to bash me over the head for having these bad thoughts and temptations, but you are gently ironing out my wrinkles (so to speak ;)). Your posts have given me strength and courage to fight these rather than let my illness get the best of me and give into them. I really do feel stronger after having received your encouragement and prayers, I can’t thank you enough. My husband is just as grateful. He knows what a source of strength these forums have been to me. He’s always so happy when something clicks that didn’t click before. Like I said, he really is a sweetheart. He spends his whole life and strength just trying to make my life a little bit better and easier. I SO don’t deserve him. 😊

To those who were concerned, yes I am in therapy for my OCD, as well as on medications. Even with those it is still fairly bad. 🤷 😦
