I haven’t seen it, but if it’s the same Grassroots Media that did the USCCB’s “Fishers of Men” DVD, I would bet that it is pretty good.
Yes. they’re the ones! You can google them to watch the trailer for “The Human Experience”.
(please post a link if you’re able! Thanks:)

Yeah, I agree 🙂 I can’t wait to see what Guillermo Del Toro (the director/writer) will do with the upcoming Hobbit movie 👍
I KNOW. I’m so looking forward to “The Hobbit” as well. He was the perfect guy to do it since Peter Jackson couldn’t do it, I think for legal reasons? I wonder how they are going to do Gollum. My classmate and I had to write a scene based on the chapter in The Hobbit when Bilbo runs into Gollum back in our high school Freshman English class. We dressed my classmate all in black with big black sunglasses to make her eyes look big (so different from how he was portrayed in the movies) and I borrowed a pair of stretchy pants and big shirt stuffed with pillows to play Bilbo. It was just so bad, even our stern English teacher, an IHM sister who rarely smiled or laugh, couldn’t help but laugh at two girls trying to do this. (Actually my friends and I made her laugh a few times with our renditions of Shakespeare, so I guess that was a feat.) I had a hard time keeping a straight face too because I realized how ridiculous we looked, but I really loved the book. haha!
Which reminds me…the Lord of the Rings movies: not overtly Catholic, but Tolkien packed plenty of great Catholic themes and imagery into his stories.
Big LOTR fan, here! So, yeah, totally agree with that.

That’s a hilarious image! :rotfl:

Peter Jackson is going to be the producer (Del Toro accepted the director role with the condition that the legal dispute with Jackson would be settled 👍), WETA is still doing the special effects, and Andy Serkis will be back to act Gollum’s lines. So the Hobbit should have a similar look to the LOTR movies 🙂

Can you tell I’m a big LOTR fan too? 😉

I believe Tolkien wrote to his son, “I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament. There you will find romance, glory, honor, fidelity and the true way of all your loves upon earth.”
👍

From Zenit: Tolkien once experienced a holy vision while praying before the Blessed Sacrament. “I perceived or thought of the Light of God and in it suspended one small mote (or millions of motes to only one of which was my small mind directed), glittering white because of the individual ray from the Light which both held.”

I was a die-hard fan of LOTR in middle and high school. After my reversion I kind of forgot about it. But when I learned that Tolkien was die-hard Catholic, my fan-ness revived!

(He was very “traditional” though. I heard during Mass, even though it was said in vernacular, he would respond in Latin. ?)

That’s great! It’ll be nice that there will be some continuity with the LOTR movies.

It hasn’t come out yet, but more likely than not that new movie Cristiada would qualify.
