Final Battle in the Anglican Communion?

I think eventually the mainstream (mostly conservative) Anglican Church will join the Catholic Church. That way they will have conservative teaching, won’t have to justify their stance to their liberal branches, and can simply point to the Magisterium for their teachings.

Then if the liberals want to argue, they’ll simply say, “You know where the Pope is. Go and argue with him.”

No doubt there will be remaining liberal groups styling themselves “Anglican Church”, but as time goes on they’ll simply disintegrate, having lost their saltiness.

IMO, that is unlikely. But I still don’t possess a crystal ball.

The Episcopal Church needs a new bishop rather than conversion. The things Schori has said border on un-Christian heresy. They need a new, conservative, traditional bishop that embraces the gospel.

That’s a start.

And the PB needs a new miter, whoever he might be.

Surely by now Bishop Robinson has retired or should very soon. I don’t think TEC will make that mistake again or at least should not. Why cannot the African and Southern Cone bishops just wait him out?

Episcopal bishops do not serve for life after all.

Robinson retired a year ago.

But he was not a single problem. He was the opening of the gates.

I don’t follow the intramurals in TEC all that closely, so I don’t know if there are currently any other openly gay, non-celibate, bishop-shaped objects in TEC, other than Mary Glasspool, but most assuredly there will be. For TEC, Robinson was not an aberration. He was a forerunner.

And (most of) the Primates of the Global South find that, among other things, what you call might “bad”. They represent the overwhelming plurality of the warm bodies in the Communion.

Surely though a gay ‘priest’ is at least less of an aberration than a woman ‘priest’? One is in sin, the other invalid.

Well, exactly! Oddly inverted priorities.
The acceptance of disordered sexuality (of which a non-celibate bishop is the exemplar), and the concept of an invalid subject for orders each has its consequences. Few, AFAIK, of the Global South Churches attempt to ordain women. Some do, as to the diaconate.

" Robinson retired a year ago.

we have wonderful venerable Church buildings-caring compassionate people-lovely liturgy -in the USA the schism continues -once women were ordained there was no going back -once a gay non celibate Priest was ordained there was little chance of going back

the pool of Priests is relatively small-we are trying to hire a new Rector -there is only 1 graduate of the seminary available to our Diocese-female Priests are essential to keep the Diocese running-our Former Bishop became a R.C. Priest-yet we remain:o

quite a pickle

Hence, the Continuum.

Not for all, I am certain. Nowhere else for me.
