A friend of mine is going to be ordained a deacon next year. I was told by another deacon that a pyx is a good gift. My friend has a devotion to St. Francis, so I thought it would be nice to get a pyx with something Franciscan. Like the Tau cross, or St. Francis, etc. Unfortunately in my searching online and in local religious stores, I am unable to find it. Does anyone have any ideas where else I may look for a pyx?

Thank you.

Thank you! Doesn’t give much of a description or view of them, except from the top. Need to make sure it is big enough for at least 20 hosts.

I will contact and see if they can give more information.

Thanks!

I did look online and at my local stores. Wasn’t able to find anything specific to St. Francis.

Just so you know, a pyx is usually for a max of 3 hosts. If you’re looking for something that holds around 20, you need a Ciboria

Well before one is a Deacon, one owns a pyx. Indeed, that usually comes at the time one becomes an Instituted Acolyte.

Colonel …the one in Amazon has something different…
You go to Product description and there is the surprise: no battery required! 😁

Thank you. I will look into those as well. I was actually told by a Deacon that a pyx would be a good gift. I have some time to get a gift. Ordination is not until next year.

Thank you again!

Ok, I was actually told by the Deacon in charge of the diaconate process for my friend, that a pyx would be a good gift.

For the money, one can do better. Although the lid is oranate, the stamped container appears of lowest quality. I’ve had many like this. Usually either the closing mechanism breaks or the rear pin comes out. Those made of solid, cast metals seem to hold up better.
