Please God somebody tell me where to find a parish that says the black, does the red, uses theRoman Canon, skips the Peace and has male altar servers. In Ne Georgia if possible, or east of Atlanta. OF but EF would be fine if there’s one that would fulfill the Sun. obligation. I’ve about had it.

Archbishop Gregory has allowed female alter servers and so your expectation may be unrealistic.

Have you been to Mass at the Monastery in Conyers? It is a differnet experience than what you are asking for, but every Catholic in our area should go there to experience it at least once.

PM me if you are ever in Kennesaw. There is an FSSP parish in Mableton, Cobb County, if you are ever out this way.

Northeast Georgia. Yes, I know female altar servers are fine, and no, I’m not more Catholic than the Church. And I know about St. Frances de Sales. It’s not in northeast Georgia. It’s simply that a number of things often go together, and I just would like to find a faithful, quiet parish. No need for lectures.

And what is unrealistic in what I’m asking? I’m only asking for information.🤷

I’m not sure where you are going to be in NE Georgia. I lived in NW Georgia for a while, so I can’t help personally with a pick, but I do have a suggestion.

Go to this site: masstimes.org/

Punch in the ZIP. Then look for a parish with a latin Mass time and/or one with a lot of time scheduled for confession. Generally that is a dead giveaway. Adoration is also a good sign.

Also, try to stay away from churches that have weird mottos like…“we are a loving, worship community”, etc. That’s a sign of a more liberal church.

God bless you. Ask St. Anthony and St. Joseph to help you find the right church. : )

You have a contradiction here.

You say you want a parish that “says the black, does the red” but then you add “uses the Roman Canon”. That would be not doing the red then as the Eucharistic Prayers besides the first (Roman Canon) are valid options for the priest to chose and this is listed in the red.

So you really do not want a parish that “says the black, does the red” if you want to only restrict them to using only the Roman Canon.

Also skipping the peace would be a violation of the “says the black, does the red”.
Personally I do not like the Roman Canon do to there being no explicit epiclesis, but that is the Easterner in me.

There is no requirement to use the Roman Canon as you say, which is correct, but using it exclusively without ever using any other of the EPs for any reason is completely acceptable.

To only use the Roman Canon is not contradictory to saying the black and doing the red.

Skipping the Sign of Peace or Kiss of Peace, whatever you want to call it, is not a violation of saying the black and doing the red EVER, except in the case of Extraordinary Form High Mass, in which it is obligatory.

Perhaps the OP meant that he didn’t want a parish that never uses the Roman Canon.

Also, the Sign of Peace is not obligatory (my emphasis):
  1. Then, if appropriate, the Deacon, or the Priest, adds:
Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

And all offer one another a sign, in keeping with local customs, that expresses peace, communion, and charity. The Priest gives the sign of peace to a Deacon or minister.

But to remove the valid options is a contraction as the options are part of the red. It is the priest who is celebrating the Mass that chooses the options, not the lay person attending the Mass.

That is not what the OP said.

I have seen this discussed and have not seen a compelling answer to it.

The discussion is that the optional part is the phrase from the Deacon or Priest “Let us offer each other the sign of peace” not that the actual sign of peace is an option.

Just because someone does not choose a certain thing does not mean that the option doesn’t exist. Sure, it’s the priest’s choice. I doubt a parishioner is standing waiting to hit him with a bat if he doesn’t use the Canon. Even if the priest chooses to use the Canon exclusively because of popular request, it’s still his decision.

True. But for the OP to lay out these requirements are in my opinion showing that he disregards the options.

Again, it is the priest celebrating who makes the choices of the options.

There is also the added dimension of this question that implies that a parish that uses female altar servers, does not use the Roman Canon, and has the sign of peace is unfaithful.

I wasn’t trying to lecture you.

Your post sounded desperate. Your post came across with despair. “Please God…” and “I’ve about had it” and all that. It sounded like a cry for help rather than a sober request for information. I was just trying to help.
I just would like to find a faithful, quiet parish.
And quite frankly, there you go again. Parishes with female altar servers and the sign of peace are not unfaithful.

Please make up your mind. If you want only male altar servers, no sign of peace and a liturgy which is strictly by the books then just say so and stop all the melodrama, or else please don’t complain when people try to help you in a spirit of charity in response to what seems to be a desperate cry to God for help.

“only male altar servers, no sign of peace and a liturgy which is strictly by the books”

Well, OK then….that’s what I was getting at.👍

That’s the problem with online communication; one can’t see a person’s true emotions. Really, you all don’t need to parse it all so much. I was just throwing up my hands and expressing my true frustrations–ok, a little dramatically. I was just asking for some practical basic info.–does anyone know of such a church in the area. Personally, girl altar servers in and of themselves–no problem. Just a parish with some reverence in behavior. “Say the black and do the red” is more of an inner attitude than an exact “requirement”.

And thank some of you for some really good suggestions.

Really folks, take a chill pill. I had a bad day, and now I’m going to go take my own advice….
