Do anyone of you happen to know of where I can find good Catholic doctrine on the Trinity, especially the Holy Spirit?

Greetings Grafs50,

Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma - by Dr. Ludwig Ott - talks of Dogmas about the Trinity, also refers you to past Church councils and Sacred Scripture, and Tradition.

About the Holy Spirit in general

The Sanctifier by Archbishop Luis M. Martinez - this is a good book.

God Bless.

I can’t help you as far as Catholic doctrine on the Holy Spirit, but I can refer you to some New Testament scriptures that might help you.

Acts 1, Chapter 1 talks about the Promise of the Spirit, and Chapter 2, The Coming of the Spirit. In Corinthians 12 through 14, the apostle Paul talks about Spiritual Gifts and their use and functions.

But if you want to see the Holy Spirit in the church today, I would look for a charismatic group within the Catholic church. You will find that these people speak in tongues (manifestation of the presence of the Holy Spirit) just as the apostles did 2000 years ago and may possess other gifts such as healing, prophecy, etc. The Holy Spirit is still alive and well today, but is not as visible within the church as he was during Jesus’ time.

Jesus, before he ascended into heaven, said he would send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to help guide us through the darkness of this world., Because the Holy Spirit will not impose himself on you, you have to open the door by asking the Holy Spirit into your life. Whenever things come up, turn to the Holy Spirit and wait upon him. His is the still small voice that alerts you to dangers or works on your conscience to convict you. His is the voice of reason and wisdom. When you become obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, (the tugging or pulling of your heart) you will see more manifestations or signs that the Holy Spirit is working within you and within your life.

Bookcat has done a great service to all of us by providing this link.

I wouldn’t call this book a doctrinal treatment of the Holy Spirit, far from it. This book is of infinitely more value than a discussion of doctrine. I know a Methodist Pastor who was blown away by this short, powerful book about fostering the promptings of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Fr. Jacques Philippe is awsome and this is one of my top ten books, if not my top five.
