In June 2019, Räsänen posted a message on Twitter and Facebook in which she criticised the fact that the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland had become an official partner of the 2019 LGBT Pride events. “Pride events celebrate acts and relations that the Bible calls sinful and shameful,” she said then…

She stands accused of “ethnic agitation”, which is punishable by up to two years in prison

“These police investigations have to do with whether it is legal to publicly confess and teach Bible-based views on man’s relationship with God,” she has said.

Christian politician facing second police interview over views on sexuality World News
A Finnish politician who was investigated for questioning her church denomination’s support of a gay pride even is facing a second police interview. This time, Päivi Räsänen will be interviewed about a pamphlet she wrote over 16 years ago on human sexuality for a Christian foundation. The investigation, which has garnered headlines across the world, stemmed from a tweet Räsänen sent in June of last year in which she criticised the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland’s (ELCF) participation in…
