This news is such a shock - we were not expecting this. Please send me strength and pray for us. We are having a baby soon and I’m forcing myself to stay calm and positive,

Does anyone know of a good cancer message board I could visit?

LovingLife I’m sad to hear that you both have such distressing news. It must be an awful shock to you both.
You don’t say how serious the cancer is, but I hope and pray it is effectively treatable.

I hope and pray too that somehow you can find the strength to be as calm as possible for yours and the baby’s sake. This is your first baby?

Do you have family nearby, and good friends to give you and your husband company and support?
Please let us know when you feel up to it.

I’ll keep you in my prayers and Masses.
Please take good care of yourself.
Love Trishie

LovingLife, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband! I’ll pray for all 3 of you.

For support resources, I recommend:
  • The American Cancer Society’s site: www.cancer.org
  • Asking the folks at the hospital where your husband is getting treatment if they know of support groups or patients in a similar situation.
  • And this site: cancercompass.com/message-board.htm

Lovinglife, you and your family are in my prayers. Congratulations though on the gift of life God has given you, it truly is a miracle. I would ask the doctor as I’m sure there are many support groups available. It may help to talk to family members of other patients and see how they cope with certain things and what has helped them.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.I am so sorry you have to face your husband having cancer as well.I hope that he makes a full recovery.

I’m sorry to hear of your husband’s illness, and yet, at the same time, elated about your pregnancy news. I hope that he recovers…with God, all things are truly possible. I will pray for him to be healed in body, mind and spirit, and that God provides the strength that you need to get through this trying time of your husband’s illness. May you be an instrument of God’s peace for your husband…God bless.

Thank you all - your kind words mean so much. We don’t know much about what is going on yet - we JUST found out. Next step is to find out more about the situation.

We are finding joy in the health of the baby who is due just next month!

Our family and friends (those that know so far) are being very supportive and that helps a lot.

I’m trying to stay focused on not worrying about or overthinking the situation.

Dear LovingLife, I’m praying for your family.

Surround your husband with love and stay positive. Enjoy each new day of the gift of this life that God has given you together, and trust in His goodness and providence for you. Also, know that cancer can be treated and even cured quite often. Among my friends and family, there are many long-term cancer survivors, including my mother who was treated with surgery and radiotherapy for breast cancer in 1977 (she is alive and well and very active today, 80 years old).

Treat this as a trial, a battle, and fight to win. Pray for the intercession of the Saints. Pray the Rosary and ask our Blessed Mother to intervene with her Son for the healing of your husband. Also, if your family has special devotion to other Saints, ask them in prayer to intercede for your husband, and recruit family members, friends, acquaintances, church members in your parish to pray for him as well. When my mother was diagnosed, we asked St. Anthony of Padova to intercede for us, as usual (my family is very devoted to him). Also, a lot of people kept praying for my mother (and we pray for other people who need it).

On the medical side, you also need to act aggressively. The support groups are important, they have the best info about which cancer centers specialize in a particular type of cancer, and what kind of new treatments and clinical trials are available for the particular type of cancer that your husband was diagnosed with. Try to find out if there are any nationally recognized cancer centers with a special expertise in treating your husband’s type of cancer. Even if you have to fly to the other end of the country, it is well worth doing it. Also, those nationally renown cancer centers may have a better access to new experimental medicines or types of treatment in clinical trials. It’s worth looking around at the clinical trial page of the National Cancer Institute (www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials)), and also looking around on the websites of MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital of New York. Just enter “cancer clinical trials” in your search engine and take your internet search from there.

Prayers will be said for you in your sorrow and your joy. Just google the type of cancer he has with support after it and you should get links to something.

Web Md has a cancer board that I used when my mother was ill.

When I was pregnant, my ex was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. It was quite a shock. I agree, do everything you can to love your spouse, but I would add that you must take time to nurture yourself as well. Let people into your life-let them help.

My prayers for you and yours…

**Prayer for the Sick
**Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love’s sake. Amen.

I am deeply sorry about your situation. During this time of insecurities and anxiety, remember that GOD is blessing you both with your first bundle of joy! As long as you pray together, work hard together into finding some assitance and help for your husband’s illness, and with GOD first, hopefully you will be able to see it through.

I know easier said than done, but when I found out I had cancerous cells I came here to this forum panicking and in tears, everyone here was very supportive and kind, loving and their prayers definitely helped.

May GOD bless you and your loved ones. AND may GOD help heal your husband and allow you both to enjoy this beautiful blessing he has sent you.

I know this is not a Catholic website but it’s a cancer forum-
www.cancerforums.net; www.cancercompass.com; cancerfocus.org; cancertreatmentforums.com; curezone.com/forums; cancer-forums.org

I hope these can help guide you in some way…
Please take care and keep praying together…GOD hears all of our prayers and knows our needs…GOD bless!

O Lord, Divine Physician, please heal this womans husband. Your mercy and kindess are beyond knowing, please extend Your healing hand to this man, as You did with Saint Peregrine. May he be completely healed, and be able to give thanks in Your Church with the new life You have blessed them with. Also O’ most dear Lord Jesus, please give comfort, love, peace, and hope to this family, so they may be guided through this difficult time. All Glory and Honor are Yours Almightly Father, Forever and Ever. Amen

St. Peregrine, we invoke your most powerful intercession. You were healed of your cancer by the very touch and love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Please, intercede for this man and his family before the Throne of God. May he be healed of this cancer, and give him comfort and assurance in the love and healing power of Jesus. Amen

O’ Most Holy Mother Mary, Health of the Sick. Please intercede for this family. May her husband be healed of his cancer, and be able to fully rejoice for the life that Your Son has given them.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art’ thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Your family is in my prayers and Rosary Intentions. If I may offer a bit of advice from personal experience; make sure you stay positive. Thats half the battle. Especially with your husband, try to keep him positive and definitely show him all your love, and in special ways. God has blessed you with a new life. I know that this cancer is a great burden for your husband and family, but no matter what remember, the Lord never gives us more than we can handle. He personally weighs and holds each Cross that He sends us, making sure it is not an ounce too heavy or an inch to long. Stay strong, and be assured that our Lord is with you. God Bless and Love you and your family! If you would like to talk personally about anything, please feel free to PM me or email me at julishney21@yahoo.com. God Bless you and your family,
Jacob :signofcross:
