I’m a baptised Catholic. I pray The Rosary daily, have read the Bible and attended Religious Instructions when I was at school, but I have not had my first Holy Communion. It is something I have regretted most of my life and now as an adult (middle aged) I would like to pursue having my first Communion.

I this doable? How do I prepare for it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was an adult when I was baptized, confirmed, and received my first communion. It’s possible. Contact a priest.

I will contact my Priest, thank you 🙂

Oh I have to be confirmed before my first communion?

Thank you (name removed by moderator).

I have just emailed my Parish Priest and will see what can be done.

I’ve been a member of our parish RCIA team since 1995…your circumstances are not unusual…talk to your pastor about RCIA…for adults, Confirmation and First Eucharist are received in that order at the Easter Vigil.

RCJA would be the normal way to complete your sacraments of initiation. Contact your parish to check out the possibilities.

Yes I do. I moved to my new suburb from another State, but my Church is literally just down the road from my home.

You are fortunate. I wish I lived that close to my church. Mine is at least 15 miles away.
Did you recently return to church then?
I would contact your priest or the person who leads the RCIA classes in your parish.
Good luck to you and congratulations on your decision to continue with the Sacraments.

Thank you. Yes I have attended my new Church and last night sent my priest an email.

The order does matter. Children must have had First Communion prior to Confirmation. (In the Latin Rite) With adults entering the Church through RCIA, they will receive confirmation prior to FHC but they do receive it during the same Mass.

I don’t believe one can be confirmed, and then receive FHC at a different time.

So my Priest contacted me today and we are going to discuss it after Mass tomorrow 🙂
