First Confession in 30 Years

I made my first confession in 30 years this morning (after my Convalidation ceremony on Saturday) and it went surprisingly well. I faced the priest (no curtain) recalled my sins and was absolved with very touching and heartfelt words. All my nervousness was wasted energy…I felt spiritually renewed. Now tomorrow i’ll be taking communion for the first time in 30 years also. As i’ve told people, the hardest thing i’ve ever done was not taking communion for all the eight months that i’ve been back in the fold. People who receive the sacrament and take it for granted can’t imagine how they would feel if for some reason they couldn’t participate. I can. And I will appreciate it tomorrow as I never have before. Happy New Year!!!

I was in your shoes two years ago after being away for 28 years. Had to wait for five months after returning before I could receive Communion.

Don’t be surprised if you cry. I certainly did.

I can understand all too well how you feel. I was away for many years and came back about three years ago. It felt wonderful. Then I petitioned for radical sanation and was granted same. I feel like my whole life has changed, and indeed, it has. Everything is so much better. God’s love and forgiveness is unbounded. Many of us forget that. God bless you.

Welcome Home!!! Congratulations on your convalidation and a Happy New Year 2008. My husband and I had also had our convalidation in September after being civilling married for 2 1/2 years. My husband is Lutheran so we did not have a full mass but I had communion given to me cause most of my relatives were Catholics. I was in tears while my husband looked on. I was so relieved after staying away for 7 years!! Have downloaded our pictures in myspace.com/babyface190305. Congratulations once again!
