First confession worries in 3 days

It my first confession in 3 days ,40 years of sin, the father say it won’t change anything but telling him every thing then seen him every week knowing all my bad stuff I wanted to tell another father but covid 19 stopped that

If he has been a priest more than a few months I would bet that he has heard worse than you will tell him, and also I believe there is a good chance that he actually won’t even remember what you said by the time his next penitent settles in for their confession.

Our priest has told us that he cannot remember after the fact, what people tell him in confession. Maybe it’s because he hears so many. Maybe he tries to forget, maybe he really tries to put it behind him and forget. The important thing to remember, is that as big as your sin may have been over 40 years, the forgiveness that God holds out is so much bigger, so much more vast and deep than your pile of sins. There’s an endless supply of forgiveness and love, all there for the taking. Remember the father running to the son in the parable of the prodigal son. You’re running into the arms of love.

Also, most priests say that they forget the substance of confessions pretty quickly. They hear so many, odds are he’s not really going to remember the details of yours.

But really, just remember that the priest has heard it all a thousand times. He’s not going to gasp in shock.
 
Priests have mercifully bad memories.
I have confessed some very nasty stuff by any measure to my pastors. And I work with them weekly on this and that. That is his vocation to hear and bring Christ into our lives. And forget.

It will be an awesome and merciful experience. Just lay it out there and accept forgiveness.

In addition to what others have already stated, he may also be so incredibly happy for you - to know that after all these years, you’ve turned to God for forgiveness and see the wrong of your ways. Kind of like the prodigal son… it’s a time for celebration. Forgiveness of sins is what it’s all about - even if there is 40 years before your first confession.
