First Five Saturdays Devotion

If I go to confession and receive the Eucharist as part of the first five saturdays devotion, am I required to be actively thinking of the reparation at the time I receive? I am in the second saturday today, but I fear I wasn’t actively thinking of our Lady when I received communion. This is even though I went to confession just before Mass in order to fulfill my commitment to the devotion. I still know I received as part of the devotion, but am worried because I wasn’t actively thinking of our Lady during the confession and the communion…so does it count?

I will of course actively be thinking of our lady during the Rosary and 15 minutes of devotional time to come tonight…though I had better hurry…only 2 hours and 41 minutes to go!

If anyone knows the answer, I would appreciate it…

I’m not an expert, but at the same time, I doubt there are any writings that would answer your question.

Personally, if one is so worried about form over substance, then the devotion turns into a superstition.

Why did you go to mass today?

Why did you receive communion today?

Were it not for the First Saturday Devotion, would you have done these things?

I think that should tell you something…

Anyway, we have the 15 minutes of meditation, separate from doing the rosary, where we really meditate on the 15 mysteries of the rosary, in reparation to Mary. For good measure, why don’t you make it 20 minutes for the 20 mysteries?

Also, why don’t you just keep going to First Saturdays all the time? Bring your friends…
