Is it a requirement to do the First Friday’s to be devoted to the Sacred Heart? I’m kind of bummed because lately (with a newborn) I don’t feel like getting out of bed in time for daily mass before work.

No, there are many different kinds of devotion to the Sacred Heart. Maybe you could talk to your priest about coming over to enthrone an image of the Sacred Heart in your home?

It’s quite reasonable to have brought everything down by a notch when you’ve had a baby, up all night breastfeeding and wiping bums. Congratulations on your baby.
Even if she hadn’t been doing all that, it would still be quite reasonable not to go to daily Mass. It is not an obligation, nor is it an obligation to take part in First Friday devotions, or any other, if it comes to that…

Newborns are such a lot of work, remember when you used to sleep 🙂

One day again… Don’t feel bad that you want to sleep when baby is sleeping. Its best for baby if parents can get some sleep when they are able.

You can offer up all your chores to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. When the baby is napping you can do a decade or more of the Rosary, meditating on the passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am 82 years old now…I have had eight children. Yes, at times I slept when they napped.
