First Friday/First Saturday questions

I’m intending to make my very first “First Friday” and “First Saturday” this weekend (on a holiday weekend…what timing!).

Any tips? Can one confession work for both days? Do I have to fulfill all the requirements in the same day?

As for going to Mass, does Saturday evening Mass count, or does it have to be a non-vigil Mass (for First Saturday)?

One Confession suffices for both days, and up to 8 days if you are collecting other Indulgences, as well. Go before Mass, so as to be able to receive Holy Communion, of course!

As for going to Mass, does Saturday evening Mass count, or does it have to be a non-vigil Mass (for First Saturday)?

Any Mass that takes place between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 is suitable, although of course it is most fitting to attend a Mass dedicated to Our Lady during the morning, if it is at all possible.

Receive Holy Communion on both days, pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be for the Holy Father’s intentions on both days, and recite the Litany of the Sacred Heart on Friday, and any of the several Litanies to Our Lady on Saturday. (If you attend a Saturday morning Mass that is dedicated to Our Lady, this will very likely be done as a congregation either before or after the Mass; if not, then just find one and do it on your own.)
