Okay, so I know that ‘Mass’ comes from ‘Ite, missa est’ at the end of the Latin /Roman Catholic Eucharistic Liturgy. (I believe from the Tridentine Mass, but I may be wrong)

My question is, what was the eucharistic liturgy of the Roman rite called before Trent? Was the ‘Ite Missa Est’ in existence before Trent and therefore the term “Mass” preceded Trent?

I’ve heard that the term Mass came about due to the ending of the Latin Mass. “Ite Missa Est.” That’s what I read on a Maronite Church website.

I thought maximilian was talking to himself and then I saw the names.

Yeah, I should change my avatar back one of these days. It doesn’t make sense to have a name that doesn’t match your avatar.

Like all fads it will pass away.

I pride myself on getting on the bandwagon quickly and getting off right before it crashes. 😎
