I have been performing (if that is the correct word) the first Saturday devotion. I forgot last monthm I think I made it about three or four times and then usually forget or something happens that I don’t do them.

Having juts started again today, I am actually struggling to do the 15 minute meditations. I wonder how are these different than just meditating while praying the Rosary?

I did have a book by Pope Francis about the rosary and he offer a little paragraph or two on reflections for each mystery. I had been simply reading these and reflecting on them, but I end up usually just reading for 15 minutes … Not meditating, and when I do meditate it is just the same as when I pray the Rosary.

Clearly Our Lady asked for us to keep her company by meditation on the Mysteries of the rosary, so how is this literally done?

Does anyone have any light to shed on keeping this part of the devotion, perhaps?

It’s a personal devotion and Our Lady didn’t tell us exactly how to go about “meditating” so it’s kind of up to us. I’m pretty sure she is more interested in whether we’re devout and sincere than on the way we choose to go about it.

My opinion as one who does the devotion is that reading from your book by the Pope is fine. When I go to do my 15 minutes meditation, I have used a variety of different methods.

One way is to thoughtfully read reflections on the mysteries written by someone else. There are a lot of different reflections for this on websites, on Archive.org as well as in physical books.

Another way is to watch a video on the Mysteries or on some subset of the mysteries, which I have done especially when I am really tired and not feeling up to reading and thinking about reflections.

A third way is to use Sister Lucia’s method of meditation, which is given here.

A fourth way is for me to just pick one or two mysteries and think about them and the lessons they can teach me in my life, maybe if I’m alone talk to myself out loud about them, or talk to Our Lady since we are supposed to be “keeping her company”, and just see where the meditation and thinking takes me.
