Because I had to work Saturday night/Sunday morning until 0600, I decided to go to the 0800 Mass at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament rather than the 1000 (one and only) Mass at our parish, so I could then have enough uninterrupted sleep to make it through my Sunday night shift.
Surprise–the Mass was celebrated ad orientem, with lots of incense and bells. The nuns were in great voice, too. This was my first time for that experience, and I enjoyed it very much. The celebrant was well miked, and there was no problem hearing anything. I left feeling like I had really “been to church.”
