Open your mouth wide and put your tongue well out. Make sure that the host is firmly on your tongue and Father has moved his hand away before pulling your tongue in again.

Why wouldn’t one wish to receive on the tongue ?
This is one of the things I’ve pondered over in my Catholic studies. If I were Catholic it would always be in the hand. I don’t like to imagine the possibility, however unlikely it may be, that someone’s finger might touch my tongue. Nosireeee, that’s not for me. Any hands coming near my face are not going to be well received.

A friend also says the same, though I suspect my friend also has OCD wrt germs.
If one positions their head tilted back and looking up (for e.g. when receiving at the communion rail), opens their mouth so it’s wider than a money slot but not as wide as the carnival clowns mouth in which you put a ball, put out your tongue far enough to form a landing pad for the host - then it really is very unlikely.

In the event it did happen, the unpleasantness of it, could be offered up in reparation for sacrilegious communions.

I haven’t read through the whole thread but have you received on the tongue yet? How did it go?

No. Despite many reassurances I cannot get over my fear of the Host being dropped.

Thank you everyone for the lively discussion

I know what you mean, it took a bit for me to switch but one day I just went with it. As an EMHC it is easier for me distribute on the tongue than on the hand.
