I don’t so much care for the forum …but what about all that amazing in depth information on the website?

Agreed. That place was a treasure trove chocked full of good articles for both traditions and apologetics.
 
@Fauken, I agree. That place was my go-to for liturgical calendar information. Without it my faith life is a lot less rich – and I imagine for others, they won’t revert or convert without it. Truly tragic if this is really its end.

For those not on Twitter, I’ll keep an eye out and report back.

It really could be, yes. There are hundreds of reasons why software might not work at any given time.
 
Don’t they have a support team? Or do they manage it themselves?
 
Pretty sure it’s self-managed. This isn’t the first time it’s experienced major problems of one sort or another. And Vox has said several times that she’s ready to be done with it.

Still…all that information… As someone who loves libraries, I could weep.

I think there was one member who did some kind of tech support for it, but yes, it was largely self managed. They were recently running a fundraising campaign for money to support the site.

Indeed. It’s a real tragedy.
 
Hadn’t Fisheaters been going out of business for a while?

Did their business model just not make any sense? Nobody can maintain a website like that for free.
 
I think they ran on donations of both money and time, but I’m not sure. It was largely through Vox’s efforts.

ALWAYS back up your server and your files.

I backed up all of my files (30 years’ worth) the other day on a 3TB external drive and have them sealed up in a makeshift Faraday cage (a locked file cabinet — the HDD is in an aluminum-wrapped bubble envelope nestled into a zip-lock plastic bag).

I’d hate the most to lose all the pictures and videos of my son. Faith resources can be replaced, baby pictures can’t. I have plans for a second backup of those offsite, in case the house would burn down. I don’t trust cloud storage.
