I’m a bit well, shocked.

Apparantly, the ‘Gay-Straight Alliance’ at my school is having a week-long gay-pride festival/theme/thing for all of next week. While I hope that they didn’t schedule it then intentionally, (that’s Holy Week (obviously)), it miffs me a bit. During the most important time of a Church season of repentance and atonement, the school is shoving this ‘have pride in your sins!’ message. Ugh!

But I digress. This is the Apologetics Forum, not the ‘Ugh!’ forum ( ). This could be a blessing in disguise. When the school gives lemons, I guess the Christians can make lemonde, eh? This could be a good opportunity to further educate people about the Church and its position on homosexual acts.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure I would be prepared to share that message… especially tactfully. If its not done respectfully, I’m sure I would simply alienate people. Even more so, obviously, I’m a sinner too… and maybe this would make me a hypocrite or somthing?

Well folks, what are your thoughts on the matter?

Gay-Straight Alliance has no place in public schools
Letter to the Editor
Published March 31, 2006**

** Re: “Michael’s Agenda,” March 17
Michael Freincle is free to choose for himself what sexual
orientation he so desires, as are all of God’s children. What
he is not free to do is to force that sexual preference on the
public. The public school system in which Mr. Freincle
currently attends is not “free,” but paid for by the
hard-working citizens of Hillsborough County, the state of
Florida and the United States of America.
By trying to force taxpayers to subsidize gross immorality,
the Gay-Straight Alliance, Mr. Freincle is forcing his
sexuality on the public. This is wrong.
I, as a taxpaying citizen, am strongly opposed to GSA clubs in
the public school system. I have a duty to see to it that my
money, forcefully taken from me by the government, is spent in
a way that does not violate my conscience and sense of moral
obligation. If the parents who pay taxes and support the
education system under which Mr. Freincle attends decide that
they are opposed to GSA clubs in the public school system,
then the School Board should represent those parents whose
children they govern.
The government is accountable to the people and taxpayers
about how their money is used and spent.

I’d suggest you go the the Courage website and see what they have in the way of literature and you might be able to call them and get their (name removed by moderator)ut on the “event”.

I understand that. I was simply indicating that it was a particularly misplaced time, in my opinion. One that piqued my shocked-ness, is all.

The timing undoubtedly was intentional. They knew it was Easter week. EVERYONE knows.

One thing that bothers me about gay folk(amongst other things) is most–yup, i said most, is that they try to initiate contraversy by flagrent display of their “gayness”. This is just another bit of it. Generally, yup, said generally, they are confrontational–perhaps as an excuse to call other folks homophobic or gaybashers so they can try to use it as an excuse for more “rights”.And then the “pride” thing–LOL! What a thing to be proud of. Such pride comes before a fall. Now, if they would just mind their own business and not try to influence me or my family for respect and acceptance they would have had mine long ago. i dislike the pushyness, i find it distastful and snotty. i dislike the know-it-all attitude, like well “it’s an illness, it’s in my genes (please keep it there), it was my upbringing, it was blah, blah, blah.” i really don’t care for the excuses backed up by scientific studies or years of research, that kind of stuff changes almost daily. If your gay, your gay. Live with it, but don’t try to make me live with it. If you want acceptance, act like a decent human being and keep your personal business between you and God.–nicolo

don’t be shocked - that’s what they want.

Prgoress with your holly week as though they where’nt there. Take care of your soul, then try to take care of the soul of others.

If you divert your attention from holly week because of them - they’ve won. Teach them by your examples, actions and choices, not through confrontatioin - especially during this week.
