I was reading a meditation yesterday during Eucharistic adoration and came across a phrase I had not heard before. It was from “Praying to Jesus with the Heart of Mary.” The meditation was focusing on the five exterior wounds of Christ and the five interior wounds of Christ, for which Isaiah 53 was referenced.
As I read Isaiah 53, I’m unclear as to what the five interior wounds might be, noting that Jesus was: despised, rejected, grief-stricken, oppressed, afflicted, sorrowful.
When I think of His passion and death, He was also betrayed, abandoned, misunderstood, humiliated and mocked.
Does anyone know of other references for His five interior wounds and the possible sources for this?
