The devil knows clearly that if he can work to destroy the institution of the family he can help to unravel and destroy the whole fabric of society. Historians tell us that once the family comes unraveled the society quickly decomposes! This being the case then what are some typical temptations that the devil launches against couples so as to weaken and eventually destroy the family? In this short essay we will present five of the most insidious but common temptations that the Father of lies and murderer from the beginning—the devil—launches against the family.

I’d only change the last one (or move it down to the sixth way) to “Lack of Prayer Together” - actually lack of prayer alone or together. That is more essential than communication, although communication is very necessary and yes, a place where the devil attacks.

Also, even the support of same-sex marriage weakens marriage itself since people begin to believe that marriage is just a social contract and that sexuality can be directed at any object.

Actually I would change my #5. Yes, lack of prayer – but the devil attacks marriage through this:

#5. Busyness, distraction and Social Media.

There are some studies showing that Facebook alone contributes to divorce. Constant texting and interacting with people other than one’s spouse. The devil makes a lot of progress with that alone.

I’d agree with that one.

Attacks huh? So “he” wants to destroy it?

I can speak only for myself and my wife

1)We lived 5 years together and only then married(8+ years now). Not because we wanted or anything, just for security for our children. Has it affected negatively our marriage? No.

2)We support same-sex marriages.Has gay couples marrying affected negatively our marriage? No.

3)Both my wife and I like to watch pornography, mostly amateur and some kinky stuff. It has made our sex life more rich and interesting. Has it affected negatively our marriage? No.
  1. We use contraception. 2 children is enough for us and we can’t provide properly for more than 2. Has it affected negatively our marriage? No…
  2. Well , we don’t have poor communication, so I can’t say anything about this point.
What I’m saying is…generalization is not a good thing…or that you devil is doing a pretty poor job if hese are his methods. 😃

You gave a lot of personal detail there so I don’t mind asking …
How is the moral quality of your marriage?
What temptations do you face and what sins do you fall into?
