Is it possible to flag a user when they don’t have any posts you can click on?

There is a brand new user (3 hours old) who seems to be exploiting our system. The account has a provocative username and is liking many posts (over 50 already ) so that the account name shows up in our notifications. In the profile, the account’s agenda is stated in the ‘religion’ field and they are trying to drive people to their website.

I’m guessing you are referring to VirusesNotContagious. Send a PM to camoderator with the name of the new user and the explanation you gave us in the first post.

Good idea. PM sent! I was thinking there was a mechanism for us to flag them and I was just missing it, since I rarely flag except in egregious situations like this and don’t know that part of the system well.

Thanks all!

Whenever something like this happens, I PM the moderator a link to the inappropriate profile. Like Beryllos said, this happens fairly often.

“Inappropriate Username Troll” has done this same thing with about 50 different new profiles by now. It’s obviously the same person as the usernames and rants all have similarities. I simply message the moderator whenever he’s at it again. He generally signals his presence by “liking” my posts and those of other frequent posters.

We used to have a feedback thread where we posted each of his new profiles as he made them, but stopped because we were concerned the attention was encouraging his bad behavior.

We’ve also had other new users with no posts but inappropriate profiles, like they have a pornographic userpic or some offensive rant or ad spam on their profile. Just message the moderator if you spot these and include a link to the profile, and the mods will delete it.

This is the first time I noticed “Inappropriate Username Troll,” probably because I’m an infrequent poster, so he hasn’t liked my posts before. Thanks everyone for the background and education on the topic. The account has been deleted.

Operating under a new name, PlandemicDoc, this person has liked many of the posts in this thread. What a sense of humor! 🤣

Believe it or not, I have not figured out how to PM, except through Messages on Profiles.
Unless I’ve missed something, when people say to send a PM, they mean to send a message via the Messages function in your profile.

Two useful shortcuts for sending a message (commonly called PM, short for private message): Click on the name where it has the @ prefix, e.g., @camoderator, or click on the person’s icon (avatar). Either of these will bring up a mini-profile which prominently displays a Message button.

Unless they have a hidden profile! You can still PM even in that case.

Click on your own icon in the upper right. You may have to click on your name again and then select messages. Click on the blue New Message button on the left and manually enter their user name with the @ symbol first. Type your message and send.

I had this issue with a user that has a hidden profile and we wanted to discuss privately…I thought he would have to PM me first as I am not hidden. Instead, he was able to show me how! It’s also how you can just create a PM to the moderator without having to find his profile. Just address it to @ camoderator without the space I used here! It’s good knowledge to have.
