You do such a nifty job with those little icons, green boxes and smilies. Can you find a way to flag threads where someone has posted anything including the letters SSPX so we can be forwarned and just jump to another thread or forum?

The problem is, I think, that the moderators do not have time to read each and every thread. Probably it is we that should flag the Moderator about them instead.

Thank you…that is absolutely right…we need your help in identifying problems and suggestions that would help…you can always PM us with a suggestion or a report of some sort to aid in our task! We do not do this full time so any little bit of help we can get , we really appreciate! thanks…and God bless!

What do you mean by SSPX?

I think they refer to the Society of Saint Pius X… but why " flag " their threads??

Because the SSPX are in Schism and often try to discredit Vatican II, therefore discrediting the Catholic Church, in many threads.

Could I trouble you for documentation on this statement , please… I desire proof of this. Who says they are in schism and what authority do they speak with, thanks.🙂

" The Smoke of Satan Has Entered The Church" ( Pope Paul VI )
I have seen this quoted before but have never seen it written in any actual letter or document.

Here is a quote from an article that may answer your question:

At a general audience almost 20 years ago, Pope Paul asked: “What are the greatest needs of the Church today?” His response was concise and to the point: “Do not let our answer surprise you as being over simple or even superstitious and unreal: one of the greatest needs is defense from that evil which is called the Devil.” The date was November 15. 1972.

This address is mentioned in The Ratzinger Report, the “exclusive interview on the State of the Church” Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger granted to the Italian journalist Vittorio Messorio in 1985 (published by Ignatius Press). In Chapter Ten Messorio comments that mention of the “reality to which Christian tradition applies the terms Devil, demon, Satan, unleashes a storm of indignation among the mass media of secular society.” This reaction had occurred earlier on June 29. 1972 when in addressing the situation in the Church. Pope Paul had remarked, “I have the feeling that the smoke of Satan has penetrated the Temple of God through some crack or other.”

Hope that helps.

Thank you - a friend of mine and I have searched for the exact source of this for years.

Why seek to censor items that mention the SSPX or its point of view, when there are far more injurious thiungs that crop up in these forums? Whatever one may think of the SSPX it has been the principal force behind preserving the traditional latin mass - a dynamic which is (thank God) increasingly being taken up by the Vatican and the faithful - vide the Ecclesia Dei - the formation of the FSSP and other orders clebrating only the traditional latin mass. I’ve not noticed people calling for protestants’’ or fundamentalists postings to be censored. So I suggest objectors to SSPX postings or views get real and reflect on just what is the central body of truths that they help us to uphold.

Thank you, Servulus, for that link. I have seen this “smoke” quoted for several different pet peeves against the church by different posters. It is good to have the context.

I will not be pulled into yet another repetative discussion about the pros and cons of the SSPX.

See the forum rules about “agenda”

You do make a good and valid point , thanks:)

Not to mention that this is a banned topic. Please do report a post that is of banned topics or anything that breaks forum rules. Except to use the search function, there isn’t a way to flag such posts. Thanks to everyone in their help with reporting posts.
