Florida Supreme Court Upholds Abortion Information Law Helping Women

Tallahassee, FL (LifeNews.com) – **The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday voted to uphold legislation there that required abortion practitioners to give women considering an abortion information they may not otherwise receive beforehand. That information includes a brochure on abortion’s risks and alternatives and pictures of the development of her baby before birth.

I remember an abortionist saying that he had no need to give all the information to a woman. He was informed, she gave consent. End of story. I like the idea, however we had a problem with this in NZ a few years ago.
That information includes a brochure on abortion’s risks and alternatives and pictures of the development of her baby before birth.
The Ministry of Health printed a booklet that was put together after a series of meetings that involved an abortionist, a member of Family Planning and a pro-life leader.

The abortionist wrote on what abortion entailed drawing on his own experience, he also chose the photographs to be used for the section on foetal development. The Ministry of Health replaced his selection with Nielsen’s photographs and rejected his description of abortion procedure as being too graphic.

The Family Planning Association strongly objected to the Nielsen photographs and refused to give the booklet to women and said on TV that the photographs were “a distortion.”.

The booklet was refered to in a newspaper article written before the booklet was even published as a pro-life effort. (Just coincidence that the journalist was a friend of the FPA committee member.)

In the end the MoH never re-printed the booklet although they do have it on their website. Just the place any woman experiencing a crisis pregnancy is going to look for help.
