A priest in our diocese has cancer that has spread throughout his body. They thought he was moving in the right direction, but then his doctors found the mass was growing again and, ultimately, it did not respond to further treatment. Long story short, he is going to die. He let his congregation know in his final Masses. Please pray for him, a restful sleep and a place in Heaven. He is a good man.

It struck me how hard it must be to know you’re going to die in a few days or even weeks. What would you do? Try to see as many loved ones as possible? Spend time on your own? Would you even sleep? This is so difficult to think about, and of course harder to experience. So please also pray for all of those people in this situation, for a peaceful death and a joyful meeting with the Lord.

Thank you.

Hail Mary…

Lord Jesus, please heal him, and if it’s his time to come up before You, have mercy on him.

St. Joseph, patron for a happy death, please intercede.

Father please allow this man of God to serve you forever in your Kingdom. May his family, friends, and congregation be comforted. May all walk strong in Christ and spread the good news of your word. In your name, Jesus amen!

Praying for a peaceful passing for this pastor. May God call his good servant home to his Heavenly Kingdom and reward him for his service. In Jesus’ name I humbly pray.
Hail Mary…
Holy Mary and St Joseph, patron of a happy death, please intercede. Thank you. Amen.

I will put him down for a Divine mercy chaplet also.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Millstreet’s Pastor). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Millstreet’s friend’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer to St. Anthony for Those With Cancer

Dear St. Anthony, you recognized Our Lord Jesus as the Divine Healer. In your goodness and kindness, please intercede for Millstreet’s Pastor, who is suffering from cancer. If it is God’s will, may the gift of healing be granted to him. Comfort him during times of unbearable pain, and ask our Lord to grant him peace and patience in suffering. May God give him the fullness of life here on earth. Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
