My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. ~ Prayer of Thomas Merton

Here are some ideas for you guys. I am a senior (married) but my husband has health problems. Sometimes I would do anything if when I purchase an item and it has to be put together I had someone around to do that. You guys that are good in doing this should try to to something like this. The holidays are around the corner. Many people need help in decorating with Christmas lights, getting toys put together, even things like shampooing the carpet! Maybe this would help out till you get a job, or maybe you could build up a business doing this. Even connecting a new fangled TV! Help please!

That’s not a bad idea…I do know people in the neighborhood would kill to have a handyman they could use.

When I had a hard time finding a job in the 80’s, I decided to clean houses on my own. I worked pretty much every weekday and Saturdays…even helped with sader meals during the Jewish holidays. You would be really surprised how many people need help cleaning their homes (a lot of people I worked for were elderly, and COULD NOT clean like they used to. I did this intentionally. A few people I cleaned for were professionals, but the vast majority were elderly (or disabled).
I really enjoyed it…but I really needed to move on, so I joined the military;0)

I do wish the OP well, and I hope they find work soon…I’m on UC myself, (but will not be for long, thank goodness) so I can understand the frustration and concern…
