For all you NFP'ers

My friend was telling me about this story on the news (maybe it was an infomercial) about this ovulation watch.

Each day it would display “fertile” or “Not fertile” and you could plan your sex life accordingly. It showed a 4-day window of fertility for most people. This woman on the show absolutely swore by the watch.

My friend and her husband almost died laughing when they revealed how much it cost: $350. “I could know my ovulation day plus or minus two days for $350, or I could know it to the day for about $10 for a thermometer… actually for nothing since we attended the class.!”

That one does look handy. They should make one that links up to the computer- or do they? I’ve always heard that charting by hand is still better for most people though. Is that true?

It is only $58, which is fairly priced.

Obviously, much of the mystique and experience of NFP would be lost. But if it keeps someone from the temptation of illicit means of birth regulation, I am all for it. I am aware of some palm pilot or pocket pc programs that assist in charting, so this is simply the second generation device.

To me NFP is not so much about temps and mucus and charts as it is about self-mastery, self-giving and consciousness of the duties of the vocation of the married.

I would highly recommend “Persona” you can find out more info. at www.persona.org.uk . It has been approved by the Church as a form NFP and my girlfriend swears by it! She has tried all the methods and this is the one that works best for her. GREEN LIGHT = GO, RED LIGHT = NO. Can’t get anymore simple then that. And it doesn’t cost $300+. Less the 70 pounds.

Love to hear what people think of this.???

Interesting… except they have these here in the US, just not packaged like the nifty ones here…

Also, NFP is 99% effective… this test is only 94%… .that’s a big difference when dealing with ovulation.

I still like the fertility thermometer… that’s pretty neat. What caught my attention was the charting display, or at least keeps the temps for a long time… I am good with taking temps, but not actually writing it down. :o
