Ive went to church every Sunday my whole life with very few exceptions, and have been going to mass every Sunday for a few years now. I’ve enjoyed church services to varying degrees but my Sunday attendance was always something to check off in the morning before I could go about enjoying my Sunday with recreation like football game on tv or playing golf.
Since starting Rcia I now look forward to every Sunday because I get to go to mass and then spend a couple hours taking about our faith. The funny thing is that I was very well catechized and formed in the faith but even when being presented with something I already knew it is like I’m hearing it for the first time. I thought I would be bored by the classes on topics like “who is Jesus” and “what is the Holy Trinity” (since I learned this in Sunday school) but even those classes were fun and interesting.
I originally had requested to be brought into the church outside of Rcia and the Rcia organizer interviewed me and felt I was formed enough to do that but then our parish went thru a patch without a pastor (due to mysterious health problems and retirements) so I was told to join the Rcia until a new pastor was appointed but I then decided to stay on in the program.
I don’t know what parish schedules are like in different dioceses but if there is one starting and you are considering it I couldn’t give it a higher recommendation. I’m loving every minute.
God Bless and please pray for me

👍 RCIA is a great program! My wife and I are enjoying it greatly. We have some of the people at church that cook a meal for us every Tuesday night before class. Feels like home to me.

Our RCIA program was pretty solid, too. 🙂

Unfortunately, a lot of people still get told in RCIA that they should become Catholic because of justice and peace issues, or get sold a bill of goods straight out of the Jesus Seminar — so let’s remember to pray for folks currently in RCIA. 👍
