For combating pride

Recently, I achieved something rather significant in nature, the problem is that it could potentially give me a massive edge over other individuals in a professional context, and I don’t want this to go to my head. I’ve come to realize that God has blessed me with more than I could have imagined, however, anyone is susceptible to pride if left unchecked. If possible, I would like to continue cultivating my gifts without “cultivating” my pride as well.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Prayer for Humility

O God, Who resists the proud and gives grace
to the humble. Grant us the virtue of true humility,
where of Your only begotten Son showed in Himself
a pattern for Your faithful; that we may never by our
pride provoke Your anger, but rather by our meekness
receive the riches of Your grace. Amen.

Prayer to Overcome Vanity

Vanity was not the way of the Lord!
Through purity of soul and intent,
He accomplished His Divine work.
While He shared with those who listened,
He submitted His knowledge to be digested,
Indicating it was the way to salvation,
Leaving each with the freedom to choose.
The way of Jesus was free of egotism;
I admire Your perfection my Lord!
Jesus, teach me to control my pride:
May it never reach the extent of vanity.
I seek to model You as a humble child!

God, who is more than we can ever comprehend, help us to seek you, and you alone. Help us to stand before all that we could do and seek what you would do, and do that.

Lift from us our need to achieve all that we can be and instead, surrender to what you can be in us.

Give us ways to refrain from the business that will put us on edge and offsee center, give us today your peace.
