Lately, I’ve been feeling a growing indifference towards prayer/appreciation of God, and when I do, I just don’t feel like it’s sincere or heartfelt. This might be what others call the dark night of the soul, but in either case, I still don’t know what to do. I believe in God and His Church, and I believe that prayer/moral life are important in life. While I’m doing the latter, I’m saddened that I feel so ‘bleh’ toward the former. I wish I could feel devotion towards God and worshiping Him, but I don’t.

God definitely deserves more than what I’m giving Him…so please pray.

We have the ability to train our feelings through our actions. Parents may feel “bleh” toward their children some days, but that doesn’t mean they still don’t love them.

Keep up the good work, and don’t stop no matter what. Ask for the intercession of Mother Teresa; she went through many dark nights of the soul, especially toward the end of her life. And look where she is now.

God loves you more than you can imagine, and will guide you through your dull periods when you’re least aware.

Hugs and prayers!

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon justcatholic997 in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

I can somewhat relate to how you feel. There are times where I feel indifferent or question the power of prayer and its importance. Now while I still do pray because people say I should, I feel that my prayers aren’t be heard and at times it feels like what’s the point, however I still carry on doing it. In order to overcome these difficulties, I set aside time to reflect on all the many Blessings I have, and I realize that this is all possible because of God, and therefore I should try my best to devotedly worship and pray to Him. That’s all we can do, is try. God Bless you, I will pray for the both of us and for everyone in similar situations!🙂

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

We are told repeatedly in Scripture to
“pray in the Spirit” Eph. 6 Rom 8, but
the devil will do EVERYTHING in his
power to discourage and interfere this,
so we must be patient and persistent
in our efforts and NOT LOSE HOPE.

Angel of God, my guardian dear to
whom the love of God commits me
here, be ever near me to keep and
guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.

Prayer for Fervor in Thinking of God by St Thomas More**

O Lord,
give us a mind
that is humble, quiet, peaceable,
patient and charitable,
and a taste of your Holy Spirit
in all our thoughts, words, and deeds.

O Lord,
give us a lively faith, a firm hope,
a fervant charity, a love of you.

Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation
and all dullness in prayer.
Give us fervor and delight in thinking of you,
your grace, and your tender compassion toward us.

Give us,
good Lord,
the grace to work for
the things we pray for.
Amen.

Just keep on “keeping on” - persevere and don’t base your faith on feelings- something very easy to do but a lie from the enemy. He is with you more than you feel…perhaps He is testing your faith. No matter…continue doing what you’ve always done and trust Him.🙂
My love,

Lord, my faith feels weak. I sometimes doubt You and do things
I wish I hadn’t done. But in weakness there is strength, and I
thank You for the wonderful truth of what You do for human
lives. You give us life; vibrant, exciting, unending life with an
enthusiasm that never runs down. Help me to believe that with
all my heart. For this I thank You.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen
