For the Iraqi benefit on October 21

These are our intentions:

–That the Eastern Churches find this as another avenue to work and pray together.

–That all in attendance will have a growing awareness of the Plight of Christians in Iraq.

–That Bishop Ibrahim will be so full of the holy boldness that he will say exactly what needs to be said and that it will (name removed by moderator)ire us to greater service to our Lord.

–That we receive a good offering for a hospital in Baghdad and for the catechism project for faimilies who are under attack when try to attend Liturgy.

Chaldeans, Romanians, Romans, Byzantines and Ukrainians will gather together this Saturday and Sunday for what we all pray will be the start of glorious things for God’s kingdom.

Some great news!

Father Loya will be interviewing Bishop Ibrahim, our event registrar, and myself for the “Light of the East” radio program which will probably be broadcast on October 21 on Relavent Radio and in some places on EWTN and Ave Maria radio.

Your people are being opressed in these foreign countries. Guide us so that we may spread your word freely. Strengthen us so that we may do your will. We pray this in Jesus name… AMEN
 
I thank you all for your prayers. Keep them up. I thought you would appreciate seeing the latest report from our registrar.

"In case you don’t get to meet everyone we have coming…here are a few stories…

Fr. John Lukas is our photographer courtesy of the Ukranian paper I believe

A family of four whose daughter was passionate about India and persecution. She died in her early 20’s and her family is coming because of her. Her youngest sibling is 13.

A family who left Iraq 30 years ago. Incidently they are part of the mission team that started an Arabic CAtholic church in Orland Park recently. I asked her to bring pictures if she had any.

A Deacon whose brother is the Bishop of the Chaldean Eparchy in San Diego - many of you may remember their rally earlier this year.

We have folks coming from Aurora, the north side of Chicago, Nativity, the south side of Chicago.

We have a donation from a nice lady in FLORIDA - a Light of the East listener perhaps?

A couple from Berwyn are coming only for the talk…they had other plans but had to be here for this. They had hoped more would come along, but I am greatful for them coming to listen.

I have had the privlege of numerous conversations with all of these folks and most of the nearly 100 attendees. I encourage you to visit with them all.

These folks are all encouraging - although some may be a bit concerned about the content, they know they need to hear it. I can’t begin to recall all of the stories and faithsharing I’ve heard the last two weeks. Many brought me to tears, impassioned as they were. They all have the ability to help spread the news of this on going struggle for the Church in Iraq."

Keeping all your intentions in daily prayer. It is probably over by now (Sunday here in Sth. Aust - 8pm) but I hope the “Light of The East” program went exceptionally well…
 
Again, thank you all for your continued prayers.

Saturday vespers went well. Bishop Ibrahim is a wonderful and very gracious man. I seem to be following a pattern I’ve had for most of my life. When called upon to lead something I get up very early for prayer and for thinking through the upcoming event. That’s what I’m doing now. I’ve written several emails to the committee with words of gratitude and last minute instructions and reminders. Keep us in your prayers.

Today is the big day.
