OK, another little tidbit has crossed my mind. I am aware that there are slight variations in how to say the Rosary. Example

This morning being Friday, I put on my CD from The Mary Foundation. However, I was reading from the sheet put out by Rosary Army.

The Mary Foundation did the “Hail Holy Queen” but not the “O God, Whose” that was listed by the Rosary Army.

Rosary Army listed, in order, an Our father, Hail Mary, and Glory Bee for the Pope. The Mary Foundation gave him one Hail Mary and that was that.😃

Rosary Army concluded with the Memore, while the Mary Foundation skipped that and just had a brief liteny of Saints

At the end of each Fatima prayer I halted the CD, prayed the extra sentence at the end of that prayer, and made intentions for the Church Suffering, even if I still have no idea if it is doing any good. 😦

And all this with Fluffy in my lap, being petted, and purring away.

Posted for information only, I am sure you all have your own little ways of praying the Rosary.

Aaah, one of the joys of the Rosary - everyone has their own quirks.

I myself, for instance, usually say the Prayer to St Michael at the end of the Rosary rather than the Memorare (unless I’m listening to my cd which also has the Memorare), and sometimes offer the INTRODUCTORY Our Father, 3 Hail Marys and Glory Be for the Pope and his intentions, or even one of the actual decades, rather than adding extra prayers for him on at the end.

Always nice to pray with loved ones though 😉

Because my first initiation to the Rosary was when it was prayed publicly, I automatically say everything from ‘Pour forth we beseech Thee’ to 3 Glory Be’s and ‘May the divine assistance’ ‘May the souls of the faithful departed’ [technically supposed to be by custom at the end of the Angelus] along with the Hail Holy Queen and ‘O God Whose only begotten Son’ at the end. Maybe even the Litany of Loreto.

Why would anyone stick ‘Pour forth we beseech thee …’ into the Rosary, just sounds peculiar to me, unless the WHOLE Angelus was prayed directly after the Rosary :hmmm:

By the way, public recitation is also where I learned the Prayer to St Michael 👍

Actually the order of public recitation here is:
Angelus
Pour forth, etc.
Rosary.
Hail Holy Queen and accompanying collect
Litany of Loretto and accompanying collect

When I attended for the first time, I was not so knowledgeable about customs and the like, but knew enough to distinguish the Angelus. So I assumed that Pour forth, etc. was some kind of preparatory Rosary prayer and so started praying it like that. And by the time I became immersed in liturgy and things liturgical enough to know the difference, it had become habitual.

BTW, ‘Pour forth’ is the collect for today’s feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In different modern translations (I like the UK one over the US)

I’m glad to hear the cats are comforting you during the Rosary and you comfort them. The cat being the cat praises God by fulfilling their state as cat, how beautiful is that, sometimes I think they praise God better than some humans who God gave so much more to than He did to the little animal and these humans don’t have any time for their Creator. I take it you prayed the decade for them and have beautiful results, thank God. God will bless you a hundredfold for being the good steward of His creation. You see your cats join you in praise.

As long as we mention that we intend to offer a part of the Rosary for the Holy Father and his intentions then one prayer is as expedient as twenty. Pray as you feel you can and don’t worry about formulas. The prayer you offer is your prayer gifted to you by God and so is complete and beautifully pleasing to Him by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I always think that the Rosary is to honour our Lady and in doing so she obtains graces for us and for others, so one prayer is therefore as expedient as many, but the fact that we pray decade after decade is for love and honour of our Blessed Mother and she always leads us closer to Jesus.

I love my smaller brothers and sisters, in their habitual silence (ocassionally broken by a meow or a bark etc) they reveal a little bit of the nature of God that is more clearly seen in humanity. The animals require so little and yet are so content, your lap and your love gave so much joy to your little friend. How much joy then must we find in God; infinite joy! They are not as beautiful as little children but as little children have much to teach us about smallness, our little animals friends have something to teach us about being small and reliant upon God.There is much to be learnt from observing our smaller bretheren.

I like to read your posts, they lift my spirit to see someone like you who so obviously loves God’s creation. Your kindness, love and care for our smaller brothers and sisters is an example to us all. Thank you and thank God. 🙂

In these days I am concerned for the Holy Father, he is in grave danger. We must all pray for his protection and for peace in the world. If you pray the Rosary pray it for him and for peace, if you pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, pray it for him and for peace, if you pray the Chaplet of St Michael the Archangel pray it for him and for peace, if you pray with your heart pray it for him and for peace, if you pray in your own words pray it for him and for peace, if you pray with your life, pray it for him and for peace, however God has called you to pray, pray for the Holy Father and for peace.

God Bless you and your little brothers and sisters

Andruschak,

I’m glad to hear that you have the Rosary on CD (at least one). I suggest that you have all your (Rosary on CD)s blessed by a Priest. I had my Rosary CDs blessed, and I don’t know but suppose that it did make a difference. I have a Rosary CD (two CD set) that Pope John Paul II made before adding the Luminous mysteries. And whenever I am having a hard time, I put the “Glorious” mysteries (and actually many other prayers) on my CD-player to repeat all night long while I sleep. Even if I don’t pray along, I’ve had several instances where good things have happened and I think the good differences have been a result of Pope John Paul’s prayers for me.

Examples:
After my 2nd surgery on my right thumb this summer, I had absolutely no feeling at all in my thumb. I put the CD on and went to sleep that night. The next morning, most of the feeling was restored and there was (and is still) only a slight lack of sense in the tip of my thumb.

I had what may have been a prescription drug reaction (side effect) one morning and could not put any weight at all on one leg. Really, I didn’t even feel able to go to the doctor. I took some aspirin and half an hour later it still hadn’t made any difference. I put the Pope on my stereo and listened to the Rosary. After five decades I was well enough to get up and put a little weight on it and drive to the doctor’s office and walk in on crutches.

Frankly, I’ve lost count of other hard times. And these wonderful things started happening even before Pope John Paul II died. I figured maybe somebody else on the CD must have died and become a Holy Saint because of how things would happen when I played the CD because I was in need of prayer. More often, the situations were not a need for a physical healing.

Andruschak,

Now that’s an idea. But I’ll need to buy a small CD player, as the only one I have is in the living room. I cannot play it loud enough to hear in the bedroom without disturbing the neighbors:sleep:
