For the "scientists" here who believe in evolution: what will we evolve into next?

Since so many people here seem to “belive in” evolution, my question is what do you think humans will evolve into next?

I read a lot of science fiction in case you couldn’t tell…that’s why I like reading about evolutin 😉

VOTE FOR TOM…you know…one man, one vote, once and all that democracy stuff.

Actually, there’s no more time for real evolution. The end time signs are starting to occur.

Hmmmm …

Troublesome poll. There has been only one prediction of the theory of evolution that has unequivocally been demonstrated to be valid through scientific investigation. That’s extinction, and it’s not a choice.

Blessings,

Gerry

Tom, you made a complex question simple. I have trouble with just three of the words in your question. They are “scientists”, “believe in” and “evolution”.

Evolution is a mechanism. Believe in is etheral. Scientists are simply intellegent humans. If any of us were to be wearing the clothes of Jesus time and walk the streets of Jerusalem we would not be noticed as different.

If our environment doesn’t change - we won’t change. But lets say the ave. daily temperature drops 20 degrees for several hundred years, there will be some individuals who will not reproduce sucessfully.

C’mon, it’s obvious, Tom. Given enough time and iterations, we will evolve into God. Or maybe it was Warfarin resistant rats; I seem to have forgotten.

Sorry Tom, I want to be Keiko. 😃

Seriously, before that I think we will have “A new heven and a new earth, and we will all (hopefully all) be Saints.” ala Revelation 21 (I think 21, you know the last one.)👍

That would only change the frequency of an occurance of a particular trait in a population…it would not create new genes or new features. The environment does not change our genes.

I think the second Genesis story demonstrates evolution theory quite well.

I think we’ll evolve into beings much like the aliens referred to as ‘Grays’, like big eyes, long digits less hair…Suits a lifestyle bogging at a computer rather than hunting for dinner!

I think that the alleged genetic science experts are working on it. After designer babies comes engineered populations. . .

Hi, FightingFat.

I know that admitting this makes me look like I ought to be locked-up, but I am firmly convinced that our “friends” in the Abduction Phenomenon, the “grays”…

…are demons.

I don’t believe we are visited by aliens but I do agree that of the stories were true the abductors are evil.

I thought I watched a documentary on discovery about how man will eventually evolve into Tom of Assisi…

MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON ALL…LOOKS LIKE WE’RE ALL ABOUT TO GET A LOT UGLIER!!! (except for me of course)

Not to worry, it’s only theory…

If we are going for the sci-fi, I want some alien race to come along and Uplift us so we are smarter and can’t get sunburns. You know, a la David Brin. But I suppose that doesn’t count because it is not quite evolution. I vote for it anyway.😛

This is some of what I have read.

I would say that most scientists who believe in strict evolution, without intelligent design, would say that we have evolved to such a state that evolution has stopped.

Evolution is based on the premise of survival of the fittest. Unless we restart the eugenics movement, that is killing or not allowing the “undesirables” to reproduce. Our society allows the “unfit” to survive and reproduce. Man has no natural predator.

This is the goal of many who started the pro-abortion movement.

I heard on EWTN radio a couple of weeks ok that the founder of Planned Parenthood had the goal of reducing the population of the World to one one hundreth of what it is today.

There are two problems I have with evolution.
  1. When a species advances, those of the earlier “branch” do not last long, that is both the new speices and the old are not around together for very long, but this did not happen with Neanderthal man was contemporary with Cro-Magnon man much longer than the evolution theories say he should have been.
  2. Most, if not all, mutation seems to be detrimental to the individual not advantageous.
Now I am not sure if I am an “old world” believer as carbon dating has shown to be wrong in the past in certain instances, but if evolution is true it is only though intelligent design, that is God is behind it all.

I have never heard of any evolutionist scientist who thinks evolution has stopped. Humans, like all animals and living things, will “continue” to branch off and new species will be formed…I suppose the evolutionists think the newly created post-human specieses will be Christian too (all these random mutations are part of God’s plan one supposes.

In Dragons of Eden, Carl Sagan has a pretty interesting statistical chart suggesting that human evolution has indeed ground to a halt. He argues that the brain can’t be enlarged anymore to increase average intelligence, women’s hips can’t be widened anymore to permit birthing of larger brain cases, and brain convolutions can’t be increased anymore to increase the average number of cerebral connections, without generating “dysfunction.”
