Hi,

I suppose there have been threads asking for this prayer request, but I want to start one just in case. I usually don’t like to pray for myself. When I am struggling or suffering or in need of some prayer or healing, I usually try to pray for people who are all suffering with the same thing as I and generalize the prayer to everyone affected, not just myself. But this time I really have to ask for prayers for myself, as I have been suffering depression most of my life and severe clinical depression recently as well as at other times. I want to ask you to pray for all those who suffer from depression, especially the worst and more powerful bouts of it. I hope this prayer request helps a lot of people. I also want to write a book about getting through depression. I want to do everything I can to help people who suffer from this very painful, and sometimes life-threatening (e.g. suicide) mental illness. Thank you for any prayers for all those who suffer from depression.

I am considering praying a daily Rosary for this intention of healing for those with depression.

I will pray for you. I too am suffering from depression coupled with anxiety, when it starts it’s ugly. Praying that god will help us (and all people) through.
 
Praying to St. Dymphna for the health & recovery of all those who suffer from this affliction.
 
It’s a horrible thing to have and thanks be to God I am only now exiting the dark dark days of depression.

which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
    And, help her to bring this

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal those suffering depression. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into those suffering depression bodies and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
 
I also struggle with depression. At some points it has led to suicidal “visions” (I won’t call them thoughts because they aren’t exactly conscious decisions).

In my darkest moments I’ve turned to my Rosary. Just clutching it tightly in my hands brings an incredible peace. Actually praying it? OMG!

Teach them, Lord, how to receive your good gifts.

Remind them to open their Bible. Direct them toward the passages in your Word that will encourage and motivate them.

Give them strength to press through this difficult time and come to rest beside the still waters of your peaceful presence.

Lord, teach thsee people how to pick up the shield of faith to defend herself against the fiery darts of hopelessness and depression.

Thank you, Father, that you are moving on their behalf. Thank you that you are giving them revelations that will lift them out of the reach of depression. Thank you, that you are bringing them hope and encouragement.
