I am presently undergoing RCIA right now. I will be baptized and confirmed at this year’s Easter Vigil!

I am curious for anyone else who is undergoing the journey right now (and for those who already have chime in too!), who have you chosen to be your confirmation saint, and why?

I have chosen Pope St. Pius X. I admire St. Pius X for his fight against modernism, championing of traditional sacred music, changing Holy Communion rules so children could now receive. That he was just a simple farm boy who became Pope, and for his overall piousness (no pun intended). Me and him also share the same birthday; June 2.

For all these reasons I felt it was clear he had said to me “I am your patron.”

Similar story with me and mine. While to most, the Polish saint who died in Auschwitz is Maximilian Kolbe, he’s Raymond (his birth name and name until final Franciscan vows) to me, since that’s my name too.

Mine will be St. Therese of Lisieux 🌹

I love her childlike adoration of Christ and at the same time, her masterful knowledge of theology and understanding of love. I also aspire to be a farmer-florist and given that she is the patron saint of florists, she seemed the perfect choice!

I haven’t chosen one yet but I am working on it. Stay tuned. ❤️💒🙏😇

I was confirmed in 2017 and my confirmation Saint was St. Mary Magdalene. I chose her because she is the patron saint of women, converts to Christianity, people who enjoy contemplating God’s mysteries, people who are persecuted for their piety, people who are penitent about their sins, and people who struggle with sexual temptation. I relate to all of these on some level. She was truly the perfect Saint for me and I still keep a beautiful portrait of her on my alter, along with a Crucifix and a small statue of the Blessed Mother.

Excellent choice. Have you given any thought to the Sisters of Life? They do amazing work.

St. Louise de Marillac will be my choice. She lived an exceptional life, and dedicated herself to Christ in the sick poor. She was holy, service-minded, and an active contemplative. I want to live my life in service of the poor and forgotten just as she did.

I’m in hiatus until I can find transportation back to the Church, but, St. Thomas Aquinas will be my patron Saint. His search through philosophy, theology, and ultimately for the love of God is the hope I have for my life loving these same things, and ultimately our Triune God.

That’s awesome! I hope it works out for you. Their charism is beautiful!

Not in RCIA, not a Catholic, but still adopted John Henry Newman.

St Francis of Assisi. Beyond the animals thing, he had a very colorful life. It took him a long time to convert to Christianity, he loved God with great abandon, and he lived life cheerfully giving to the poor and preaching. I admire his willingness to put himself last for the cause of the gospel, and as a homesteader, I really love that he saw all of creation as his brothers and sisters and as an extension of God’s great glory.

Yet! 😏

My official policy is to put “yet” in parentheses with a question mark.

(yet?)

Please observe proper form.

Excellent selection. He is certainly relevant to our current times. You may already be aware but if not here is a brief biography of him in audiobook form…

It touches on all the attributes you mentioned. The author, Mother Frances Alice Forbes, also wrote a few other saint’s biographies…

Praying for you and all who will be entering the One True Church. Welcome Home!
