For three centuries, why did the Popes approve of or tolerate this?

Infallibility is no more “ludicrous” than bread and wine becoming the body and blood of Our Lord, or the miracles in the Gospel unless some of us are so lost we think the miracles are merely figurative.

And FAR less ludicrous than the concept of God becoming a man.

The Incarnation is way more a Miraculous Act of Love than the simple prevention of God’s Church from error.

If one believes in Christ coming to Earth to save us, why Christ sending the Holy Spirit to guide His Church that much of a stretch?
