I read the following article this week and it has been hanging around my neck ever since. chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5094395.html

I am so sickened, frustrated and feel so helpless.

What would it take for China to change this? A worldwide boycott? Fat chance of that. China holds our material goods as leverage and the average consumer cares more about the price he pays for socks than the fertility policies of the country that makes those socks.

I started a thread under “Prayer Intentions”. That is all I know I can do at this point.

And this week I’m going to look into adopting a baby from China. I have no clue even where to begin.

Well, I guess I’m replying to myself! (Is this the same as talking to myself? 😃 )

I went to Holt International’s website, which is an adoption agency with an excellent reputation. (I actually first heard about it here on CAF in the archives.) Anyhoo, to adopt a younger child (infant) from China the family size must be no larger than 4 children. Since we have 6 we are out of luck. There’s a ‘waiting children’ program where the family size requirement may be flexible.

I will pray about this. The idea of adopting a child has been tickling me in the back of my head for a few years now but I have to lay it in God’s hands. It’s just when I read that story I felt such a need to DO something … ANYTHING … to help at least one unwanted child.
